Worst Ever Round
Two club members Infront of my two-ball who were ridiculously slow, not letting us through, they were constantly looking for balls, leaving bags the wrong side of the green, on there phones and taking multiple shots off the tee at every hole because there standard was so poor. Which meant that we were not only waiting at every tee box for them to clear but also on every fairway, everytime we thought we would be let through while they were waiting they then teed off and left.
Course conditions were very poor, sand covered rapid greens and waterlogged boggy fairways.
A round which could realistically be completed in 2.5 hours took almost 4 because of two people's own ego.
Great condition
A challenging layout with shorter holes made more difficult by changes in elevation. Some nice scenery. Greens were in great condition and the pace of play excellent. The pro shop was among the best stocked I have seen. Green staff were courteous helping maintain the pace of play. Definitely good value for money and worth a visit.
A canny course at a great price
I had not played this course for years. It still surprised me what a nice course this is. Great layout. Some testing holes a real gem. The tee price was good for a visitor. Pro shop large. I don't think anyone will be disappointed. Greens treated when I played. Will play again next time I'm in the area.
Lovely
Course in great condition. Greens are being treated and most are bumpy and heavily sanded
southmoor
Very good course. designed by the designer of Agusta. The first time we played it, the greens were like glass, they had just been hollow tined so were thankfully slow. The fairways are of georgous fine grass which is beautiful to play of. Some very difficult holes and some fairly easy when using the wind.
It's on the side of a fairly steep hill so was windy. Some lovely big drives from the tee down the hills.
food is excellent in the bar.
Not bad
Course is decent enough but the greens were a mess made it almost impossible to putt on quite alot of holes.
Past it’s best maybe
First of all the members wie meet and green keepers were all super nice northern friendliness tat its best.
Unfortunately they had green maintenance week which wasn’t announced when we booked the course on recommendation that this is after Seaton Carew and Brancepeth Castle the best course in Durham. It might have been in the past. Course conditions were ok, club house closed. The green keeper offered for us to come back and the few greens that were not worked on showed potential and so did the course, but funds possible not available due to economical circumstances.
Superb course
Guy in the club house superb
Neil, green keeper great guy
Course as always superb
Gem
Brilliant course would recommend to anyone only reason marked condition down was because they were in middle of doing the greens
Who needs friends
Can’t fault the course.
The members made us as welcome as a fox in a hen house and spoiled our day out.
Who needs friends
Visiting South Moor for the second time and the same thing happened on both occasions, that is the members made us as welcome as a fox in a hen house.
Testing
Great course with challenging holes
That. Keep you on your toes,
Few hills but that adds to the interest
Will definitely play again soon
Nice surprise
First time playing South Moor and it was a great little course. The greens were much faster than they looked and rolled true. Glad we got a buggy (£25) as it is on the side of a hill with some big elevation changes. Would like to play again having seen is as has several blind shots. Always nice to play a course with friendly locals on it!

Excellent condition. Great greens.
Course is looking great. Very well maintained greens which were remarkably fast.
