A little Jewel
Beautiful course with a lovely variety of Holes.
Scenic and very well kept
Winter golf at Whickham
Hopefully Whickham will take this as a constructive critique as intended: club house and facilities are good and don't require any further improvement. However, the course would benefit greatly from some serious investment in ground remediation to make it more playable during the October to May period - we haven't had much rain recently but the course is already starting to become very muddy to the detriment of playability and will probably ultimately be closed yet again during the winter / spring period (as it was during 2023/24). The recently instated / revised 4th and 5th holes are an example of what can be achieved being currently more resistant to damp and more playable than other parts of the course. The quantity of leaf litter also frustrated play but this can be easily rectified by maintenance attention. £20 green fee feels excessive - probably £10 would be nearer the mark over the winter / spring period.
Top class
Great course some spectacular views, a adorable course if you play well front 9 trickier than the back, greens were nice considering g time of year
Whickham slowly going away for the winter
Good course but quite hilly with plenty of trees to get in the way if you aren't accurate off the tee. Course condition was good when we visited but it looks like it is being prepped for the winter season with some freshly mowed temporary greens at the ready. Speed of the greens was a bit of a frustration for our party with some running medium fast and some running quite slow but I guess that's just early autumn golf for you. Be careful when you park in the visitors car park - it's quite tight especially when busy and we noticed a few of the SUV's with bumper damage 🤔
Very enjoyable.
Fairways were a bit shaggy in places some T boxes could do with a bit of grass on them and the bunkers needed tidying up.
However, great greens, excellent pace of play and fantastic views more than made up for this.
A really interesting layout with some truly spectacular holes. Not long but requires some thought off the tee to provide best approach angle. Rough managements is pretty good and overall the course plays fair.
Played in great weather conditions with very little wind so got it at it's best.
Look forward to giving it another go.
A lovely course, but …
A lovely course, but no one to report to and had to hunt for scorecards. Not obvious where the next tee boxes were ( I hadn’t played there for about 6 years).
Tough but good course
Hard course to play. Up and down hills and playing off an incline or decline quite often. Really challenging but very good course. I think some course knowledge would go a long way playing here as there’s lots of dog leg holes etc. course was immaculate with nice surroundings and even though it was a windy day, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, with the trees blocking the wind. I’d 100% play here again.
Day Out
Excellent course in lovely condition, some nice testing holes but playable for all handicaps.
Great course although slow
Being stuck behind a 5 ball and having a 3 ball teeing off right behind me didn't take away the enjoyment I had on this course.
Strange set up to find a check in point, according to a kind member it's a case of grabbing a card from the back of the spike lounge and teeing off.
Not clear where to warm up, found out later there is one small driving net behind first tee and I spotted a small green that someone was chipping onto on my way off the 18th. Get yourself there in good time to suss the area out and avoid the grumpy fella sitting on his iPad in the club shop and you will have a great time! Difficult course of if find yourself off line at all so if you like a challenge that's also a plus point.
Best course I have played for a long time.
Excellent course, I can’t fault it, demanding, challenging and views to die for.
Pristine
The course is in absolute pristine condition, I would say there's not many within 20 mile in as good a condition as this course. Food and drinks afterwards also, which was delicious
Seriously slow play spoiled the day
Teed off just after lunch and waited on every tee box.. at times there were three groups on the tee box which is just beyond a joke..
Took 4.5 hours for a Sunday knock.
Course in fair Nick and warm welcome from behind the bar..
