Nice course
Nice course Lots of little quirks. Not the easiest of walks very undulating but very enjoyable and great value
Great Course Condition
Visitor 3-Ball on 29-4-25.
Course in fantastic condition. Fairways and greens looked great.
Lovely views and interesting holes. Will return.
Lovely course good nil
Very nice course. Quite tight but fair. Great nik and only £20
Whickam Golf Club
this was our first time playing this course and found the whole place to be pleasant and friendly except for the actual course we found that fairly challenging. We will certainly be back to play again and are contemplating taking out member ship here.
Tee box nightmare
Overall really like this course but disappointed that the tee boxes were still on plastic mats, which in April and considering the recent (good) weather I would have expected proper tee boxes
Bit wet
4 winter greens, all tee boxes were on mats. Course wet in a lot on places, 17th temp was shocking. Clubhouse nicely done out, staff friendly, pro great.
Best public course in the North East?
My first round at Whickham and certainly won’t be my last. A couple temporary greens in-play unfortunately but the greens were absolutely immaculate and playing pretty fast and pure already. For this time of year absolutely the best greens I’ve played. Members were lovely while there was a bit of mid-week slow play which I expect they were really chatty and had a laugh with us which is always nice because sometimes the members look down on young lads for some reason but not here. Really looking forward to coming back.
Great course
Played here a few times over recent years and it’s always a nice experience. Same again this time. Nice layout, hilly and a challenging course. Enjoyed it. A few holes on winters due to the season start preparation but overall a great day with good conditions. Me and 3 others won a voucher to play here and I can’t wait to come back and play again in the warmer months. Staff and local members also friendly.
Nice Course
Nice course, nice and hilly, quite a lot of dogleg holes which I love. Winter tees and greens however.
A little gem 💎
I loved it, great condition considering the time of year.
And only for 20 pound, it's a little gem.
A little Jewel
Beautiful course with a lovely variety of Holes.
Scenic and very well kept
Winter golf at Whickham
Hopefully Whickham will take this as a constructive critique as intended: club house and facilities are good and don't require any further improvement. However, the course would benefit greatly from some serious investment in ground remediation to make it more playable during the October to May period - we haven't had much rain recently but the course is already starting to become very muddy to the detriment of playability and will probably ultimately be closed yet again during the winter / spring period (as it was during 2023/24). The recently instated / revised 4th and 5th holes are an example of what can be achieved being currently more resistant to damp and more playable than other parts of the course. The quantity of leaf litter also frustrated play but this can be easily rectified by maintenance attention. £20 green fee feels excessive - probably £10 would be nearer the mark over the winter / spring period.
Top class
Great course some spectacular views, a adorable course if you play well front 9 trickier than the back, greens were nice considering g time of year
