COVID makes it very difficult
I don’t think my experience is anyone’s fault at the course. Understanding all courses need golfers to survive and it’s the summer season in the Bay Area, the tee time schedule is packed. Most of the golfers I witnessed were fairly new to the game or not serious. If you have a handicap under 10 and don’t like to drink beer while golfing, this place will not make you happy. The workers at this place are working hard and very professional. I’m going back because of them.
Thank you for your review! We're glad that our staff left a great impression on you, but we apologize that the pace of play was slow during your round with us. We've updated our tee time intervals to be 10 minutes apart to help with demand and pace of play. We appreciate your review and hope you'll give us another try in the future.
Thank you for your review! We see you rated the course 2-stars and are interested in learning what we can do to improve for your next visit. We take customer feedback very seriously at our course. Please reach out to our team in the golf shop and tell us what's on your mind. Thank you for playing Redwood Canyon Golf Course.
Fast play today
Course played fast today. Tee'd off at 8 am finished at 11:30 Course has some rough spots including many of the tee boxes. Greens were in good condition and rolling good. Overall the pace of play was worth playing there today.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass along your feedback to the staff so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting us!
Terrific! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time at Redwood Canyon Golf Course. We look forward to seeing you at the course soon for another 5-star experience!

Potential for days
Nice greens is all I can say about this place. Tee to green it was a disaster. Totally unkept. Looks as though the only attention this course gets is the occasional pass with the lawnmower. 55$ for twilight is shakedown. In the Sacramento area this outfit wouldn't draw players for 15$. This course sits on an amazing piece of property and is designed and laid out quite well if only the ownership cared a little bit. Amazing to me that this place was packed to the tune of nearly a six hour round.
Thank you for your review! We're glad you enjoyed our greens, but we apologize that you didn't enjoy the rest of our conditions. We're currently working on improving our course. We have installed a new irrigation system on hole 1-7 and plan on doing more improvements. We appreciate your feedback and hope you'll give us another try in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
Continues to disappoint
Every couple years, I play here to at least enjoy the walk. I agree with the past reviewers about the course conditions; the greens and bunkers are OK, but the fairways and tee boxes have needed work for a long time.
My concern the last couple times has been with the clientele. On my previous round, the serenity of the valley was shattered by a slob blasting his heavy metal music on his golf cart boombox. This time, the experience was soiled by the group in front of us who was 1.5 holes behind and was driving their carts ALL over the place. When we asked to play through, they were belligerent and believed that paying the green fee meant they could play as slow as they wanted! And no, we didn't see a marshal during the whole round.
Thank you for your review! We apologize that you didn't enjoy your time with us. We're currently working on improving our course conditions. We have installed a new irrigation system on hole 1-7 and plan on doing more improvements. We are looking to bring on new marshals as well. We appreciate your feedback and hope you'll give us another try in the future.
Party Sunday
To many people treating the course as a place to party today and not keeping good pace of play
Awesome! We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Redwood Canyon Golf Course.
Little Rough
It’s a nice course I don’t know why lately the course is in rough shape all the tee boxes have hardly any grass and fairways need a lot of help. Green were in good shape
Thank you for your review! We're glad that you enjoyed our course, but we apologize our conditions didn't meet your expectations. We're working on improving our course every day, so we appreciate your patience as our conditions start to improve. Thank you again and we hope you'll give us another try in the future.
Don't bother
This is my local course and I've played it between 20-30 times total as I live just up the street. I'm disappointed to say that I'm done with this place.
The course layout is fun and on the shorter side yet fairly challenging on the front. Unfortunately the conditions are perpetually awful despite the constant construction that's been going for years. To be fair, it's just inexpensive enough to stay on the lowest end of cost for Bay Area courses, right there with Chabot, so I don't expect it to be amazing. Shoreline and Franklin Canyon may edge this out as the worst course conditions in the Bay Area but this is close. Funny enough, I just found out that all of these courses I'm mentioning are managed by Touchstone Golf.
In addition to poor course conditions, Redwood always has a slow pace of play unless it's super twilight and totally empty. Probably because they have no starter, no PA announcements or organization, no marshall out on the course. Also no beverage cart. Considering the shop is always staffed with drowsy teenagers that I assume make minimum wage, it's pretty clear that management for this place is just dirt cheap and don't want to pay for any decent amenities you expect at a golf course.
Customer service here is non-existent. Like I said, I've played here many, many times and I've never once seen an actual adult working in the shop.
Last week I hop over to hit a bucket and they tell me they're not giving out balls as they're saving them for a youth camp the next morning. Alright, that's cool I suppose but I'm trying to get some practice in. Should I go to a different course? I ask for the next solo tee time instead. You'd think they'd be like "sorry about the driving range, we'll take off 15%" or "the cart fee is on us". Some sort of gesture to say "yes, we do in fact want some money from you, our range is off the table so let's work something out to make that happen."
Next day they send me an email that says free medium range bucket if you do their survey. Great! I didn't get to work on my driver yesterday, a free bucket would be nice to go back and get in the session in. Spend 30 minutes answering each question in earnest, because I'd like this place to be better. No follow up with the free bucket, nothing from management, no response at all.
This week I go over again after work and they tell me that the driving range shuts down at 7pm. Since when? And more importantly, why? It's mid July buddy, the sun doesn't even set for another hour and a half. This is at 6:56 of course, so not actually 7pm yet. Then he tells me it's because he has guys going out to collect the balls and doesn't want them to get hit. Understandable when you send kids out with no protection to scoop up balls.
Done with them. It's so close by for me but there are way too many golf courses around for me to keep trying to make this pretend course work.
Thank you for your review! We apologize that you didn't enjoy your time with us. We're currently working on improving our course conditions. We have installed a new irrigation system on hole 1-7 and plan on doing more improvements. We've also updated our tee time intervals to be 10 minutes apart to help with demand and pace of play. We are looking to bring on new marshals as well. Regarding the driving range, our system is different than any other golf course because of the water landing area. We have to pick every golf ball by hand. Also, with COVID-19, we have to sanitize everything. So we are not operating at a normal procedure. Safety is our #1 priority. We appreciate your feedback and hope you'll give us another try in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.

Fairways Burnt Out
Tee boxes and greens are ok to good.
But the fairways are already burnt out, with still 3-4 months to go in our dry season. Difficult to find grass from which to hit even in middle of fairway.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass along your feedback to the staff so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting us!
Go Somewhere Else...Unless $28 is your Top
First off, it's $28 to Walk after 2pm this time of year...so, if Value is your main criteria by all means, take a look at Redwood Canyon.
Dirt. Dusty. Dry. Dead Grass. Gophers. Travesty would best describe the course conditions. Three times drives into the fairway were discovered to have rolled up on top of a gopher mound...??? Other times, bare dirt spots, even the occasional sand patch...? We're not talking divot repair patch here...we're talking 2' x 3' SAND PATCH. Tee boxes...sheesh...
Fairways are narrow...no biggie, but with the creek running down the right on most holes on the Front 9, even a baby fade is gonna find the jungle...and I mean jungle. I must've lost 4 balls on the Front 9 that faded a bit, landed in the rock-hard fairway and bounced/rolled into the Jungle Creek.
Greens are green, slow, a tad spongy...but very well maintained, as is the cut of rough surrounding the greens and green-side bunkers
Overall, a fun time...but then again, Golf is Fun. For $28, this is the Place for You. If you want a course in good condition where Grass, Dirt & Sand have their proper places, and you're willing to shell out more than $28, Go Somewhere Else...
Thank You for the round, Redwood Canyon...once is enough for me.

nice layout,poor condition
last time I was here they were working on drainage and plumbing, so I was surprised the fairway condition was the worst I have ever seen here in the summer after all that work. greens were ok
