Redwood Canyon Golf Course

Close to perfect day to play with a friend. Winter play at Redwood Canyon is for all who love the game and anyone who is not afraid of a little rain. Quick play course this time of year. Great prices too. Greens are outstanding!

Fairways are mostly tight, greens are slow.

Condition is not so good, but that could just because of the recent rains.

I love Redwood Canyon, but it needs to be played on a weekday. Weekends bring out way too many "Wal-Mart" type crowds. One group spent a good minute trying to run over a flock of geese with their carts, while there were two groups backed up watching them awaiting on the tee. There are at least 4 groups of these guys on the course everytime, because it's a crazy cheap golf course. The golf course itself is beautiful and has so much personality, with unique holes and challenges. I love Redwood Canyon, but not on the weekends.

boxes and 1/2 the fairways were dirt/hard pan. Hit down

and risk wrist damage! Played 3 months ago and the course was in good shape. Greens were not cut.. so really slow. Looked like they were "punched" 2-3 weeks ago... greens were all the same... slow.

Needs alot of work, my reward for hitting center fair way was all dirt

Fairways are in poor condition and our tee time was pushed back an hour once we got to the course due to frost. The only redeeming part of this course are the greens. The greens were in good condition.

I used to come to this course atleast once a month a few years ago. I haven't been in a while until this week. Now the course is in terrible condition. The majority of the fairways are very poor. I know the course is being aerated but the poor conditions went beyond that. I hit a lot of fairway hits off of the tee and somehow I was still left with a terrible lie. I won't be back here until I know it's gotten better.

Always have a good time playing this course. Even though the course is under repair, it is still very playable. Staff is excellent. Our foursome was able to check in and play seamlessly.

Hole 14 was closed. Hole 18 was divided in 2 holes (a par 3 and a par 4). The par 3 green was terrible - like fairway.

Many fairways barren, greens ok... tee boxes barren.

A few holes are dug up with pipes and machines nearby.

Looks like water pipes and perhaps new sand traps soon. Sand traps were WET and HARD don't need a rake!

Hope all the work their putting into course will make it 4-5 stars. Country Club like on this weekday, as the locals know course is being changed/repaired. Next spring it should be nice!

I gave Redwood Canyon to stars for course condition that's a fair rating but a year from now it will be value much higher you can see all the work they're doing and how they're trying to improve the course I believe some people just unfairly beat up on the course that are currently working and improving the fairways in the tea boxes it's a cool little course tucked away in Castro Valley I recommend you do play it and you will still have fun

This is the 2nd time and probably the last time I will play this course. They were repairing the drainage all over the fairways, so there was a lot of dirt and a couple holes that were shortened. On top of that, the price was a bit to high specially for the course conditions were not favorable. Also, fairways starting to get hard and some greens are over watered.

Also, the pro shop attendant was the same guy who was there before who was really rude. As we were paying for our greens fees, he mentions that if we had booked through their website it would have been cheaper. He had to say something about that. Well, sorry for anyone who want to play this course, do not play there on a Thursday because the attendant was very rude. Also, the course is not getting any better, I guess their waiting for the rains to come to water the fairways and everything else.

I would’ve answered maybe to recommend this course but that wasn’t an option. Played this for the first time as it was on the way home from a trip. Got caught in traffic so called course to say we’d be 35 min late. They said don’t worry and when we got there they got us out within 15 min so great customer service there. With a new name I’m assuming it’s changed hands and they’re putting some money into it- upgrading irrigation and it appears to b an upgraded/remodeled clubhouse. Pro shop was fine with great service. Restaurant has no character and looks like a retirement community place although outdoor patio was nice. The course itself is run down. There are no tee boxes! Sure, there’s markers on areas that are mowed lower than others but it’s random grass/weeds/dirt and nothing manicured. Fairways same as t box and greens are very slow with many diseased. Having said that, the course has potential. There’s no “signature” hole but it’s a decent layout with many tight fairways. You’re surrounded by forested hills and u could be somewhere in Montana. 1-2 funky greens and next tee box that could use some rerouting. If they put some money into this and make it manicured and playable it could be a destination.

The course was in bad shape. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in poor condition. They say work is in progress but course conditions have not changed in years. Nice short layout but course conditions made round unfulfilling.

This place, outside the friendly staff, is a dump. Slow play, crowned tee boxes and horrible greens where no one repairs their ball marks. Not a good course at any price.

I have played this course numerous times and will return again, even though it is a 45 minute drive for me! A very scenic and enjoyable course!

What can I say the course is conveniently located the staff is very friendly and it offer you numerous challenges and still it's loads of fun
