Be nice to your customers or we wont come back
We were able to book a twosome for the hot deal special of $26 plus convenience fee with cart. We arrived 30 mins early and hoping to tee it up earlier since it was a weekday, there was no one out there perhaps another twosome out in the course already that we saw. We asked the person nicely in the pro shop if we can let us out early. But he was very adamant that we can not tee off until the designated time of 8:02 am but it was only 7:35 am. By 7:45 am we asked one more time if he would let us out. He was very rude and said no again and told us that if "we wanted to tee off early then book an earlier tee time." We would but the price of the earlier tee time is more expensive than the price of 8:02 am. Remember it is a weekday and there aren't anyone out there yet except for the 2some we saw that tee off. You can send us out and fill out another twosome on our tee time at 8:02 am. That is double revenue if you want the course to make some money. I have worked on the golf course for almost 20 years I know how it works buddy.
Overall the course is in good shape, but since it rained a couple days before, the rough was very thick and some of the fairways were not mowed at all. Greens were really bumpy and not rolled. If it was for the good deal we got, I would not play here again. The person in the shop was very rude and top of that, the fairways and greens in the early was not mowed.
NICE COURSE,,POOR FRIENDLINESS
VERY SLOW PLAY -NEED A MARSHALL - BUT IN GOOD SHAPE -NO SHORTENED HOLES. NO MUDDY SPOTS TO SPEAK OF, BUT STILL SOME WATER IN SOME OF THE TRAPS. WE LIKE PLAYING HERE AND DO SO OFTEN. THE FAIRWAYS HAD BEEN CUT AS WELL AS THE SIDE ROUGHS. ALSO, THE PRICE IS RIGHT. I WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH DANIEL IN THE PRO SHOP. NO GREETING, NO SMILE, HAD TO WAIT, NO THANK YOU'S -HE WAS RATHER CURT ACTUALLY. NEEDS SOME PEOPLE SKILLS TRAINING -- THE LOUNGE WAS GREAT AND THE LADY BARTENDER WAS VERY SHARP AND PLEASANT, AND ...FRIENDLY.
Boy O Boy...
After all the rains we had this winter, I understand why I had difficulty with this course. I’ll be back in a month or to to test it out again! I would suggest a weed whacker though.
Great Course
Great course to see wildlife, due to the recent rains the grass is long on the fairway as well as the rough; bring extra balls! They continue to work on making the course better, it should be in good shape after the rains.
will be back for more
course still wet due to water through the creek across the valley, some holes are revised or otherwise shortened. cartpath only when we played. but the pace of play are fantastic. we enjoyed the scenic course. staff in proshop are accomodating. we will come back to play when holes are in their origonal design and layout.
Course not ready...
I have been coming to this course for several years, it has great times but it’s been problematic for some time. When there’s lots of water it get really muddy like today, they have changed the name so I’m guessing ownership has changed. Lots of things changing but if it keeps up hopefully it won’t take too long for the course to be at optimal. Some greens have a lot of dead patches and they had to take 5 strokes out of 4 holes that were being repaired so it’s only a 67 par right now, I’ll give it a try in a few months
Course Management
The first thing that was an issue was the green fees. I had confirmed our rate through Golfnow) at $32.. When our first member checked in Daniel charged him $53. The pro shop did not check to see we were on the GofNow special. When i arrived I was able to straighten things out and the fees were adjusted. No scorecards or pencils on the carts, no range balls for us. Others had some but they "ran out" when we asked. The greens were not prepped very well, lots of bumps and the holes were not set correctly. We expected the course to be soggy and a cart path only day- and it was. The fairways were as well as they could be for the conditions and previous weather. We felt better course management was in order. The bar was very good and the bartender most courteous and efficient. We will be back as we like the course- but will waif for it to dry out.
VERY BUSY SUNDAY!!!
The price is reasonable for a NorCal golf course! I like this course because it offers variety. The front nine is challenging, the back nine is relatively easy, flat and short. The problem with this course specially during this time of the year is the wet and soggy fairways! The greens are fine although some of them needs attention. THE MAIN PROBLEM THOUGH WAS , I DID NOT EXPECT TO SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE ON A SUNDAY NOON TEE TIME!!. Good for the golf course though but bad for the golfers. There are at least 4 groups waiting on the first tee and then it did not get better from there. We always have to wait every hole!!! to hit our tee shot and then wait again for the second shot. 5 hours for a 3some is not ideal!!!
Convenient course minutes from home
I play this course many times during the year and it's a really great course unfortunately it rained really hard the past couple of weeks in the Bay Area so the course just couldn't sustain all that water that's why I gave it at 2 stars for course condition but the overall rating of Redwood Canyon is 4 Stars
Convenient course minutes from hom
The course stood up to the storms we had recently and it was a great time playing Redwood Canyon
Driving range closed again
I played this course twice in a 3 month span. Both times the staff told me I couldn't buy a pre-round bucket of balls because the staff the day before didn't pick the balls and the driving range was closed.
Otherwise, it's a nice little course.
Not worth the money
Greatly disappointed. If it was a $20.00-$30.00 I would be fine but it’s not worth the price of $50.00 even for a Saturday afternoon. Poor course condition (even though in December) and lack of range balls put a downer on our experience.
Good layout and scenic!
I play here often, around 6-8 times a year. Always enjoy the course and it's diversity!
Redwood Canyon
Touchstone golf has done more than just changed the name of this golf course Redwood Canyon is a must play for anybody in the Oakland East Bay Area
Must be the same little employee that I and several other golfers had the same type of encounters with recently. Seems to be his MO. Rude, unaccomodating and smug about it. I've played there at least 100 times in the past few years. I probably won't be back if he's still working there!
