Greens in great condition a little slow for the area. Enjoyable round of golf
Fun Course
It was a beautiful day on a beautiful course. Still no cell service so you can’t use an app. Also, had to play the front 9 twice since the back 9 was very slow and backed up.
6somes really?
It was super sunday but was surprised that Redwood Canyon allowes more then a foursome to play this completely backs up the course and slows everything down. When we played there was two 5somes and 1 6some that we saw,you can't call the front desk because you have no signel in that canyon and of course they have NO marshall checking anything so its kinda a free for all with whatever people want to do.To bad because you can see there doing work to certainly better the place and I do give them credit for that.
Getting Work Done
Looks like the course is putting in an effort to get the fairways redone and you can already see a significant improvement which is great. On this particular visit the pace of play was absolutely atrocious (usually its not this bad) and we were on pace for nearly a 6 hour round. The group in front of us was a group of 3 with 2 sets of clubs and only beginners whacking away. In front of them was a group with a couple small children. This course is a good value if youre looking for a cheap round. Some of the crowd that comes here is not really a golfing group and were driving carts up right next to the greens etc. This was a particularly unlucky trip as usually its a decent experience, just be aware.
Wait Til Spring
Had a mid morning tee time, but conditions were wet and soggy the entire round even though it hadn't rained since two or three days before. I only played here because it was so cheap. They laid down new grass on all the fairways but it was cart "path" only still. Greens are the best I've ever seen them, they're finally normal and not slow and grainy. They've had issues with course conditions in the past but their hard work is starting to pay off. I can't wait to see what it's like in a few months time but until then, I'd probably play elsewhere
Winter time (raining seasoning)
all fields are too much water.
No cart,
l didn’t know course. condition and if I knew I didn’t make tee time.
Tight Fairways
This course short in length, but tight fairways.
Temp 60=62 slight breeze, good for January.
Fairways nice, greens good. 4 hour round.
Goat Track
I was excited to try this course out especially after reading comments on pace of play and the course coming around. The layout on the front nice straight out then straight back in. It is a pretty canyon and the holes are nice enough with a creek cutting through and bordering several. The greens were in pretty fair condition too with only a few bumpy, clumpy, bare areas.
That was the good part. The tee boxes are just awful. It was wet from the storm earlier in the week so I excepted a little slippage, but the grass is so long and bare in so many spots I couldn't keep my footing amongst all of the mud. The fairways felt like rough when there was grass. So many bare, muddy and flooded spots everywhere. Again, footing was horrible and just general no relief to find a spot for your ball with a decent lie.
The rough was all weeds and crab grass. In many areas it was hard to find where the fairway ended and the rough began.
Oh well, Ive said enough. Sadly this is a goat track I won't be back to visit.
Golf Carts
It would be nice if their golf carts had a windshields. Cover cart pathways is too dusty and dangerous road hassard
Redwood Canyon
The course is in great shape. Need to play before it starts raining. Greens are in good shape and the fairways are rolling nice as well. Playing golf in December has never been better at this course.
Great value!
Another good round here. Started on back nine and finished in 3.5 hours!
this course is finally getting some attention....Kudos!
It was the day after it rained so yes it was very soggy. But finally there are doing something to improve this course. Its not what it can be but slowly but surely its starting to get there.Better then the last time I played here and thank GOD they finally replaced the carts. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done but you can see effort and improvements that are being made.I would say by next summer it should be coming along quite well.
Fill Cart Seed and Sand
I play here several times a year. They have seed and sand containers on the carts yet they are never filled. Course is getting better. they just put down new sod on the first hole. Very nice.
I love this course
Redwood Canyon is one of my favorite Bay Area courses. I have 3 of my 5 best scores there! On weekdays it's really fun to go there and make good time. The course was in pretty good shape, except for some bare spots on the fairways near the tee boxes. I'm sure I'll be back many times. Since the new owners/managers took over two years ago they've upgraded the course.
Great day of golf
This course is the best kept secret in the east bay. The course is in great shape. We completed our round in three and one half hours.
Congratulations
So impressed with the effort being made by the new team..SO much still to do ..but I see progress in many areas..
Kudos to the people in the pro shop for their GREAT attitude..
We'll be back
Ran out of practice range balls
The staff here is unfriendly and downright rude. Carts always a problem...range balls not available..."it will get better" is all they have to say and not polite
They can care less if you come back or not...very poor management.
