Dubsdread Golf Course

Another round another great day at Dubsdread.

Everything about this place is so good.

Although DD is a short course but don’t let fool you. Tight fairways, small greens forces you play your A game if you want to score low.

Conditions were excellent, some slow play, but the greens rolled trued and were in great shape. Need to strategize and execute your game if you have one.

Can’t believe the price for this course. Awful course management for pace of play. Waiting 3 deep on tee boxes…would not recommend unless you want to play a 5+ Hour round

First time playing but really enjoyed. Herman in the pro shop was super helpful since it was our first time playing. Also the starter (sorry can't remember his name) was very friendly and also helpful. Highly recommend having lunch or dinner next door to the course. Delicious!

At about 6100 yards from the back tees, this is not the longest course in town. But the small greens, rough and mounded fairways offset the lack of distance. The course was redesigned several years ago. Numerous holes on the front nine have been re routed with mounds added to the fairways that create the challenge of uneven lies. Gone are the roads that use to traverse several of the holes that required the player to play shots between moving cars. The greens were in excellent condition but I believe the course will be aerated on 9/14. Based on recent rain it was cart path only, but that was a fair trade for fairways that were not inundated with tire tracks and mud. The practice area is much improved. The only negative is it’s a water range. Previous reviews listed pace of play issues, we played in 3 1/2 hours on a Sunday afternoon. It’s not the cheapest place in town, but if you can play for $40 you’ll enjoy the experience.

I truly have mixed emotions about this, Herman in the pro shop was an absolute delight. His introduction and making sure we knew what we had in store was a great touch. My dad said if he ever had to open a golf course he would hire Herman in an instant; amazing guy. The lady working the beverage cart was kind and was always around.

Those were the highlights of the day. The driving range was lacking, had to hit off mats. Their carts have GPS which is helpful but the course was not what I was hoping for. There were several times the crew was mowing while I was hitting. Every place I’ve ever been to before the shut off the mower or idle. It was some of those little things that didn’t help the experience. Their tee times stagger every 8 minutes which didn’t seem like enough time for a group to tee off, hit their second shot, sometimes search for it without things getting congested. We followed a group of two that joined that was following a single who had two in front of him. My dad and I were a two-some and we were followed by a group of three and behind them were two. On the par 5s I’d look back and there were 4 groups on the hole.

All in all, I must say $56 for a round is much more than I should’ve paid. I feel $35-$40 would’ve been appropriate, anything extra is not worth what you pay in my opinion.

This a great track and well run. Problem is with crowds and pace of play. Overall superb value.
