Rancho Solano Golf Course
About
Rancho Solano Golf Course sits midway between San Francisco and Sacramento, a location that makes it easily accessible from all the cities in the Bay Area. The course sprawls across hilly terrain, providing the layout with elevated tees and dramatically undulating greens. It is a tough course to walk but it's possible. Sparkling lakes dot the hills, coming into play on a few holes. There are also numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The expansive greens offer some room for error but pin placement is still important. The first three holes on the back nine are some of Rancho Solano Golf Course's most challenging, especially the par-4 11th hole. Club selection is the key to this hole or you might lose your ball to the lake and even once you do seemingly reach safety, there are still bunkers backing the large green.

A1 Course
Can’t go wrong booking a tee time at Rancho. Top notch facility.
Nice course worth the drive from SF
Got an excellent hot deal for two with a power cart because of recent aeration. Course was in fairly good condition consider the recent rains. Excellent pace of play, nice layout with friendly staff. Certainly will play again the next time we visit SF.
We’ll be Back!
A wonderful course! Great layout and well maintained.
It’s held up well through all of the recent storms.
Watch out for the par 3’s. You may actually get a green in regulation , but that won’t rule out bogeys. Large and undulating greens definitely bring 3-putts into the equation.
Our whole group had a great afternoon playing Rancho Solano and we’ll be back, a great value!
Beyond
Despite all inclement weather, course is in great condition. Greens were rolling true and fast. The staffs were very friendly and accommodating. Thanks Solano!!!
Great golf course
This is one of the best golf courses in the Napa Valley area. The layout and conditions are excellent. Also the green fee is very reasonable.
Had the course to ourselves!
While we endured a bit of rain (.03" per hour) and some coldness, we had the benefit of having the course to ourselves. Finished the round in 3.5 hours never waiting on anyone. Great day for golf on an excellent public golf course.
Perfect Day of Golf in the Rain
It had rained heavily that morning and though out the night before. My son and I were nearly the only players at the course and were warmly welcomed by the Proshop's manager. How friendly is the staff? I'll tell you,...after checking in and mistakenly heading out to the 1st tee in an unmarked Marshall's cart (!!! that's right!!!), they saw us go and let us play on without saying a word... VERY, VERY friendly.
Course was wet, but was draining well. Greens, even though wet, rolled smoothly and true (very surprisingly). Sand in traps played well with no rocks.
At the turn we stopped for lunch at the diner and had two 'home made' sandwiches and some draft beer. Perfect for a couple of cold and wet golfers!
Marshall checked-in on us during back nine (which was nice to see even in these terrible conditions).
Absolutely the most fun and memorable round of golf played all year. This course goes on my top five in the entire SF bay area.
Definitely playing again
It was my first time playing at Rancho Solano and everything I heard about the course is true. It's now one of my favorites, just really liked the atmosphere, layout, Conditions, location, from the first employee I met to the Marshall everyone was professional but polite. The greens are incredible, very fast and hard to read especially playing it the 1st time.
The Ratings Are Legit
Definitely one to keep in rotation (provided it’s easy on pockets). I’m a newer golfer (March 2022) and have been golf sick since then—going to every golf course I can within my area and within my financial means. I’ve played 4/5 star courses from the likes of Chardonnay, Napa, Paradise, Blue Rock, Cypress Canyon Lakes, Hidden Brooke, and some really nice 3 star and below courses. This course is by far the nicest, well kept, beautiful scenic courses I’ve ever been too and so long as the prices stay between the 40-50 range, I’ll come once a week. If they drop lower I’d probably be here everyday.
Rancho 12/22
The course, considering the previous several days of rain, was in excellent condition. There were several wet spots, but that was expected. Greens held the ball very well and were fast.
Fast greens
Cart path only due to rain day earlier and greens were faster than usual, 40+ putts!
