Rancho Solano Golf Course sits midway between San Francisco and Sacramento, a location that makes it easily accessible from all the cities in the Bay Area. The course sprawls across hilly terrain, providing the layout with elevated tees and dramatically undulating greens. It is a tough course to walk but it's possible. Sparkling lakes dot the hills, coming into play on a few holes. There are also numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The expansive greens offer some room for error but pin placement is still important. The first three holes on the back nine are some of Rancho Solano Golf Course's most challenging, especially the par-4 11th hole. Club selection is the key to this hole or you might lose your ball to the lake and even once you do seemingly reach safety, there are still bunkers backing the large green.

Rancho Solano Best in Solano County

I live about a mile from the course and have the options of playing Napa courses, Silverado, Green Valley CC, Chardonnay, Eagle Vines and the course need not take a back seat to any of the surrounding tracks. The agro is so perfect you feel bad taking a divet. Stay below the pins if their in the middle otherwise your coming down a double black diamond ski run. But with touch and pace it is more than a true test.

A must stop destination if out of the area and if you come in the fall to see the PGA Fortinet at Silverado you are about 20 minutes away from one of the best tracks you can play in Nor. Cal.

I might walk next time

I don't usually have a problem sharing a cart with anyone but the last 2 times I was told I needed to share the cart with someone I don't know.(Golf now didn't say share cart when I booked) The person I had to ride with was a dictator on my driving and it got pretty annoying after 18 holes. Twice in a row now. Next time I'll either walk or they can drive. Also with COVID still running wild and being a senior citizen, rubbing elbows with a stranger for 5 hours isn't a good Idea. Maybe you should give the walker a good deal. Better than normal walking rate.
