About
Rancho Solano Golf Course sits midway between San Francisco and Sacramento, a location that makes it easily accessible from all the cities in the Bay Area. The course sprawls across hilly terrain, providing the layout with elevated tees and dramatically undulating greens. It is a tough course to walk but it's possible. Sparkling lakes dot the hills, coming into play on a few holes. There are also numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The expansive greens offer some room for error but pin placement is still important. The first three holes on the back nine are some of Rancho Solano Golf Course's most challenging, especially the par-4 11th hole. Club selection is the key to this hole or you might lose your ball to the lake and even once you do seemingly reach safety, there are still bunkers backing the large green.

From Tee to green excellent course
My first time playing the course. I know that this course can be really busy so I chose a rainy day when only the die-hard golfers would consider playing. The course was wide-open. I had a 1:20pm tee time and it was great. From tee to green the course is the best I’ve seen for winter conditions. The fairway are nice and green. The greens are perfect and roll nicely. The tee boxes are level and plush and well maintained. When I approached the 16th hole that’s when it began to rain. I finished in just over 3 hours. I didn’t play the 18th whole due to pouring rain, but I will be back.
Always in good condition
Big, undulating, quick greens present a challenge. This courses is always in very nice shape. One of my favorites

Got stuck behind a mini tournament. That was the only negative of the round. We did not see a marshall on the back nine and that might have helped.
The layout was great
It was a windy day morning. But the staff was great adjusting the tees to fit the wind. Making the play and challenge match up. Tee boxes and fairways in great shape.
Great condition!
Played in 4’45” and got lucky with high 60s weather in January! By far the best course conditions I’ve encountered in recent months in the region. Beverage cart came by three times too. Just a stellar round.

Excellent shape, good pace of play, finished in 4 hours 10 min, greens were excellent. Will definitely come back

Pace of play was VERY SLOW.
Staff not able to manage single players and group with less than a foursome.
Course Marshall was not able to move players along. Rather they enforced the 90deg rule for cart riders which further slowed the play.
It was a terrible experience and reminds me why I have not played the course in a very long time.
