Rancho Solano Golf Course sits midway between San Francisco and Sacramento, a location that makes it easily accessible from all the cities in the Bay Area. The course sprawls across hilly terrain, providing the layout with elevated tees and dramatically undulating greens. It is a tough course to walk but it's possible. Sparkling lakes dot the hills, coming into play on a few holes. There are also numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The expansive greens offer some room for error but pin placement is still important. The first three holes on the back nine are some of Rancho Solano Golf Course's most challenging, especially the par-4 11th hole. Club selection is the key to this hole or you might lose your ball to the lake and even once you do seemingly reach safety, there are still bunkers backing the large green.

Pace of play was VERY SLOW.

Staff not able to manage single players and group with less than a foursome.

Course Marshall was not able to move players along. Rather they enforced the 90deg rule for cart riders which further slowed the play.

It was a terrible experience and reminds me why I have not played the course in a very long time.

My favorite

Love everything about this course. This is very well my most favorite. To be honest, this compares to Yocha Dehe very closely. The greens are excellent. One of the best I’ve seen in around. Very good pace of play, Easy wide open fairways. Beautiful sceneries just like Yocha Dehe. Although I prefer this course more than paradise valley and Yocha just cause of the not too crowded driving range.

Brutal greens!

Really nice course, challenging, TOUGH greens!

The pace of play is a little slow, mostly at the shorter par-5 1st & 10th holes, where guys think they need to wait for the green to clear (most DON'T!)

Then the back 9 gets significantly more difficult, causing delays as people hit OB or take 4 putts on some holes.

On Nov. 30 we teed off at 12:20 and couldn't finish before it got dark at 5pm. So bear that in mind when booking.

Otherwise, a favorite track.
