Rancho Solano Golf Course
About
Rancho Solano Golf Course sits midway between San Francisco and Sacramento, a location that makes it easily accessible from all the cities in the Bay Area. The course sprawls across hilly terrain, providing the layout with elevated tees and dramatically undulating greens. It is a tough course to walk but it's possible. Sparkling lakes dot the hills, coming into play on a few holes. There are also numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The expansive greens offer some room for error but pin placement is still important. The first three holes on the back nine are some of Rancho Solano Golf Course's most challenging, especially the par-4 11th hole. Club selection is the key to this hole or you might lose your ball to the lake and even once you do seemingly reach safety, there are still bunkers backing the large green.

Great course
This course is a gem, always in great shape and the greens were rolling very well.
Still Enjoyed The Round
It was cloudy and cold, cart path only so I walked quite a bit. The course was very wet but not really muddy, played lift, clean and place. Greens were still very sandy and putting was a challenge on most holes.
All that being said still a fun round, great course lay-out. I"m eager to get back after the course drys out and the sun reappears.
Best muni golf course in the Bay Area
Always get an excited feeling at the first tee where a grand view of the course, like a landscape painting, appears before I take that first swing. Magnificently manicured fairway, trimmed trees around a well maintained pond, ,and what constitute as the rough are cut short. Not so difficult to find wayward balls. You can't miss the greens, they are large, enough to fit in a five bedroom house, which meant a few 100 feet putts for me.
It's been raining for weeks since Christmas, so the greens were quite soft and got bumpy late in the afternoon. Despite the cold cold winds, 36F on the 18th,, the finely manicured course made up for an enjoyable round.
My buddies and I play all over the SF Bay area, easily Rancho Solano GC gets our vote as the best municipal course in Northern Cal.
Had a wonderful day
Challenging course but a very beautiful and fun course to play. The staff was very friendly and updated us when there was a slowdown on the course.
I would not walk the course, but the carts are new and even though they don’t have the GPS yet the course is easy to follow.
Great price on a good course
The course is in surprisingly good shape after all the wind and rain. Only a couple of spots were still a little mushy but overall it was great.
Marshal Kicked Us Off
The course was great and I recommend it to any intermediate golfer. My only complaint (which is huge) is that the MARSHAL had us come in at 4:40pm when we were heading to the l8th hole. This is the first time in my 3 years of golfing to get kicked off the course before finishing the round when there was still plenty of daylight!! So, if you play golf here, make sure you plan on being done by sunset.
Bumpy
Bumpy greens as they just aerated. Great course, but would be great if they upgraded yardage markers. Always fun to play this course.
Very slow almost 6 hrs
This course was suggested to me by one of my wifes coworker. He warned me about the slow play, but said it was still worth playing. Fir the mist part I would agree, tees ans fairways in good shape, greens had been air rated and sanded (so bumpy and inconsistent) having said all that I would return and play again when greens are back to normal. I just have to prepare myself to wait on every shot.
Nice Course
Rancho Solano is till a very nice course to play. It is very challenging for the intermediate and novice golfers, especially holes #10, #11 and #12. The one thing I wish the would improve is the greens; they are extremely fast and unreadable.
Nice course, but way to slow
Course layout is great. Very very slow on a Wednesday st 11 am. Price is good $41.00.quit after 14 holes 4 hours 20 min.
Aerated, Sanded — Unannounced
Generally love this course and will continue to play it in the future. Drove an hour, used GolfNow rewards and discovered upon arrival that the course had been aerated and sanded a couple of days ago. Wouldn’t have played it under the conditions for any price BUT I love this course.
Good challenge and value
Course is in great shape from your opening tee shot to your final putt. No straight holes - plenty of curves and slopes. Greens are huge but run true, and you better position your approaches well or you will be dealing with a difficult put. All that being said nearly all holes are fair. The two for which you need to be prepared are #11 and #12. The former is a par 4 where even when you get your drive to the front of the water, the next shot is still a longer one full carry. The latter is a long par 3. 190+yds, of carry - and that's hoping there is no wind in your face.
Overall, Rancho Solano is a nice and fun course.
Solano County Jewel
Love playing this course, it is difficult, well taken care of and an overall fun course to play. It is one of the slower courses in the area, so plan on four and a half to five hours for a round of 18.
