Rancho Solano Golf Course
About
Rancho Solano Golf Course sits midway between San Francisco and Sacramento, a location that makes it easily accessible from all the cities in the Bay Area. The course sprawls across hilly terrain, providing the layout with elevated tees and dramatically undulating greens. It is a tough course to walk but it's possible. Sparkling lakes dot the hills, coming into play on a few holes. There are also numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The expansive greens offer some room for error but pin placement is still important. The first three holes on the back nine are some of Rancho Solano Golf Course's most challenging, especially the par-4 11th hole. Club selection is the key to this hole or you might lose your ball to the lake and even once you do seemingly reach safety, there are still bunkers backing the large green.

Always good
Always green, great conditions!
Best of the Beat
I love tis course, I live in Marin, and the drive is worth the time . This Golf Course to me is one of the most fun, not easy, but lovely lay outs in the bay area, and beyond, The bar, and restaurant is small, but wonderful the service , and pleasant staff make for a wonderful day. An incredible deal. Larry Blaylock, Fairfax Ca.
Great experience!
The staff was nice and the course was in good condition. Great value for your money.
Great course, wide fairways and well trapped greens
Played on a mid-week afternoon. The pace of play was excellent as was the condition of the course (thanks el nino). I love the course and will return.
Great course, challenging play
Rancho Solano is a great fun and challenging golf course. With the rain, the course is in great shape. The greens always are fantastic and run true. The staff at the course are very friendly and helpful. This is a course that I really enjoy playing. Holes 10, 11 and 12 are like the Amen Corner of the course, hard but fun.
Well tended by the greens crew.
We were a bit disappointed because the greens had been aerated and sanded a week prior. However, Tee boxes and fairways were well tended. As it turns out, The greens were not too bouncy because they too were raked and smoothed. Putts rolled smoothly, and pretty true considering the raked sand on them. It was important to hit fairways because the first cut was a bit sticky.
Overall, we had a fun day, and will be back next time we are in the neighborhood.
Rancho Solano Review
This course is top notch! Excellent customer service. Fairways were in great shape. Other than regular divots, we didn’t get a bad lie. The rough was lush and thick. Tough to find your ball if you were in there. Sand traps had good, fluffy sand. The greens were in great shape; not many divot marks which was great to see. They were fast, rolled true, had huge breaks in them and they are enormous. These are by far the biggest greens I had ever played on in sometime. A lot undulation as well, 3 putts are definitely possible. A lot of variety out there; some long and short holes but very generous fairways. There were a couple of holes with narrow landing areas but only a few. A bit hilly with elevation changes.
This is a muni but you wouldn’t have guessed it. Beautifully maintained with some very nice homes lining some of the fairways.
Special Solano
Rancho Solano is a great course - challenging and fiscally rewarding. Even from the white tees there's plenty of challenge. The fairways and greens were in great shape and the rough is not unfair. The greens were fast which I like - made a 50 footer on 17 for birdie, yahoo! That doesn't happen too often. All in all Rancho Solano is a special track and always satisfying to play.
A Good Track
Nice course in very good shape. Large greens, but somewhat unfair as they all tend to slope from back to front. Many shots hit to back pin positions would roll back to the front green, penalizing good approach shots. Overall, I would recommend this course. Good play from the Blue tees and moderately challenging.
Scenic, great layout, fun
Played 11/28/15. Cool, crisp morning. Light wind. Front desk, marshals and food staff very friendly and thankful we were there. Course was in great shape tee to green. Greens (some of the largest in NorCal) were fast and true. Traps had silky sand. A fun day.
A real treat in fantastic condition Huge geens
If your in the area this is a must play. The curse was in fantastic shape and the greens rolled true. The red tees are great for women and give them a chance o reach in regulation. You will enjoy your day here !!!
Resort Conditions at a Muni Price
Played here for the first time with my Wednesday golf group. Wonderful course! It's well worth the hour drive & will definitely return.
Lush fairways & greens the day I played. Rough is pretty thick. Lots of elevation change & several pretty holes. Very friendly staff and, at $32 to walk, this is a steal.
The course's main defense if very large and multi-tiered, undulating greens. Do your best to put the ball in the right place because being on the wrong tier is death. 4.5 Stars.
Abwechslungsreicher Kurs
Schöner Platz mit sehr guten Grüns, treu und schnell
Mussten leider hinter einem Turnier her spielen, dauerte 5,5 h
Great round of Golf for walkers
I have a ton of fun out at Rancho Solano Golf Course. It is such a walker friendly venue that I could play it weekly. There are holes you can relax on then the next one could be very challenging. Greens are huge and I have heard folks complain about, but I like those for more GIR's . Get your group together and make it out to the beautiful and fun course today!
Awesome Conditions
This was the best shape I have seen this course. Greens were awesome and rolled true. Fairways were in pristine condition; a little damp, but very nice. Even the rough was in great shape.
great fun course
some may consider this course easy. I played the whites and found it challenging enough. conditions were excellent. most fun golfing I have had in a while. I would highly recommend this course. I am returning within a week to see if was a fluke.
Always a great round at Rancho Solano
There were 4 of us golfing our 2 me round of the day. It was our 18th annual double round of golf for my older brothers birthday.
Rancho Solano is a favorite of ours. It's always so well kept. Clean, spacious, well groomed. The staff are always friendly, professional, and friendly. Rancho Solano has what's become very important to me and that is "pace of play. " the pace of play at Rancho is nice and steady.
On this day that we played there was a heat wave coming in and by the afternoon we were the only idiots out golfing in 98 degree weather. But you know what they had the Marshall cone periodically and hand us cold towels, to cool us down.
We e played there about 15 or more times over the years and there has never been a "wait" for the group ahead for more than 5 minutes at the most.
So if you have t yet golfed at Rancho Solano, what are you waiting for? It's the jewel of Fairfield/Vacaville area.
