Rancho Solano Golf Course
About
Rancho Solano Golf Course sits midway between San Francisco and Sacramento, a location that makes it easily accessible from all the cities in the Bay Area. The course sprawls across hilly terrain, providing the layout with elevated tees and dramatically undulating greens. It is a tough course to walk but it's possible. Sparkling lakes dot the hills, coming into play on a few holes. There are also numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The expansive greens offer some room for error but pin placement is still important. The first three holes on the back nine are some of Rancho Solano Golf Course's most challenging, especially the par-4 11th hole. Club selection is the key to this hole or you might lose your ball to the lake and even once you do seemingly reach safety, there are still bunkers backing the large green.

I strongly recommend this golf course
Very Beautiful Course!! I strongly recommend this golf course.
An exceptional muni course
Simply nothing negative I can find to say. All the notes are different and interesting. Challenging but good (fast) greens.
All layed out in a beautiful canyon. Exceptional value.
Great Golf Experience at Rancho Solano
Played this course for the first time on Labor Day. Great facilities with friendly/helpful staff. The course was in great shape and pace of play was excellent (4 hours on a holiday). Bring your putting skills to this course. There are huge greens here with significant slope. Pay attention to pin placements (reaching green does not ensure easy 2 putt if you're not on proper level of hole position). My foursome had a great day here and we look forward to returning (with more knowledge of the green complexes).
My home course
With wide fairways and big greens it's a good course for beginners yet challenging for the Advanced players
Very Nice Course
Haven't played this course in probably 20 years. Took my son out and glad I did. This course was in beautiful shape, no wonder it is so popular. The greens were in perfect shape, fairways were great and the only thing I can say that is somewhat negative is that some of the traps could use more sand. Played with another twosome that play the course quite a bit so they were giving me some advice on where to hit on some of the holes. If you have a chance to play this course do it, you won't be disappointed. I had a great round thanks to the people I played with.
course is in great shape
the green keepers at rancho solano has done a great job at the fairways and greens. the personal behind the desk is very professional, plus the restraunt staff is great. all around I rate this 5 star.
my favorite course
I love making the drive out to enjoy Rancho Solano. The course has many elevated tees which is perfect for this straight but short shooter. It gets warm in Fairfield, so if you get a decent whack, the ball rolls & rolls. Gorgeous views of the California golden hills. Hawks soar over head. Cows graze nearby on the back 9. Staff is friendly and engaged. Can't wait to go back!
Nice course slow play
Seems like they always overbook anytime we play rancho or paradise we're always stacked on top of each other! That's the only negative I have to say about this course!
very slow play
Painfully slow round and the ranger on the course didn't seem to care.
Excellent Golf
The course was in excellent shape and the weather was perfect. Slight breeze to cool it down but not enough to cause problems. The greens were soft and true, challenging but readable. Had a great time
Just Nifty
I've lived close enough to this course that I've driven by the entry sign for 6 years - but hadn't played. You can't see the course from where the sign is but the area itself is pleasant and when I finally did drive in, I was just delighted. It's not got amazing, dramatic views but it's very pretty - more park-like than many public courses. I could tell from the road that it was in great shape. Once I actually got out on it, I was amazed at how well maintained it is, tee to green and how well designed it is. You can think your way around it and score well - but you won't want to. Several tees just invite you to go for it. A couple of months later, it's become my home course - a lot of that decision had to do with the staff and the food. It does get a lot of play by people who aren't considerate enough to replace their ball marks or divots - the same kind of players who hold everyone up. It can get very busy, so if you're doing an on-line deal, I suggest a tee time before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. to zip around in 4 hrs or less. If pace is important to your pleasure, it's worth it to pay a bit more.
Great course for the value!
Just a very nice course! Pace of playing got a little bit long in the back 9's!
Windy, SLOW day at Ranch
Have played here twice in the last month and have come away with similar feelings. The course is in great shape(very green still) and is a fun layout but the pace of play is just an abomination to golf. My rounds have been 5:15 and 5:30 the last two times I have played here. There should never be 3 group pile ups on every par 3. It just doesn't make sense to have tee times 8 minutes apart if the course layout cannot handle it. Unfortunately will not be back until I hear this pace of play issue has been addressed. Golf should not take 5 and a half hours.
Rancho 720 am
Great condition. Best condition course for under $50 in the bay.
Long Round
I have never left a bad review for a long round.
We were at a 5 hour 40 minute round, waiting to tee off on hole 16. We elected to skip the last two holes to catch game 5 of the MVP finals. I've never seen anything like this before. Groups piled up on every hole. No rain check allowed.
Exceptional
Great that it was not over booked and the round only took us 4hrs 20min on a sat was exceptional!
Definitely going to come back !
Great course and value
We love this course. Exceptionally well maintained. Commendation to the course director.
Long hitter
Course was well kept. The only negative issue I had was on 4 of the holes the worker cutting the grass followed me around the fairway and did not shut off his motor when I was ready to hit the ball. Very distracting.
Real fun course
Great condition, huge greens, lots of fun, best place to play when rains have come, drains really well
Hey u001973912,
I've played at Rancho more than any other course over my 10 years of golfing. They must have had an off day that day that you played. I normally play on weekends and have never had a round longer than 5 hours. The first par 3n hole number 5 backs up a couple of groups when they're busy but after the second par five it picks up. Btw I like Turkey Creek and Teal Bend up in your area.
