Good place for beginners like myself.
Most of the fairways were wide open, a couple of wicked holes with water on both sides, with a lot of (MY) golf balls in there!
My nephew and I had a good time, biggest draw back is that the wind can pick up in a hurry.
Bermuda Triangle
Greens are in great shape. Flat course but windy most of
The time. I have played this course multiple times. They are working on some of the traps, but most are ready. Nice sand.
Great value for interesting course.
This course has a lot of doglegs that require you to shape your tee shot or cut the corner. It's in good condition, the bunkers are well maintained with plenty of sand. Great course for the price.
Course has a good layout.
Wind was gusting at 25-30 mph and staff had us go out on back side and when we finished , they wanted us to play same side again due to the fact they had a high school match going out on front side...said they should have let us on the front side to begin with..so not a good experience due to that and the wind...but would like to play it again ( both sides ) in less wind..challenging par 4's...
great place to walk a course
staff was very friendly, speed of play was on time. The course layout was very nice with a good mix of par 3 and par 5 at the right time.
As the Wind Blows
The Cypress Lakes course was very well maintained with good fairways and very good greens. The course plays differently depending on the winds. The front nine is moderate in difficulty but the bask nine is a real challenge, especially the last three holes. I will play there again.
The Greens were the best.
I'm a senior, the course is quite long from the white tees for me. Recommend the gold tees be adjusted to be more friendly. i.e. the 18 par 4 is 425 yards from the whites and 412 yards from the gold. I also belive the slope differance between the white and gold tees is too much.
A very good and challenging course and a good price to play.
I like the course. I play it several time per year and it is a good test of golf ability. Long par 4s and fast greens.
Great greens with character, OK fairways.
A lot of people think this is still a private military course. It is open to the public with lower rates given to active duty, retired and all vets. It could be a jewel with just a little more care. They do a great maintenence job with a very limited staff. It needs a manicure, especially off the fairways. Doesn't drain very well after a storm, can be difficult in the wind (if it's windy anywhere in the delta, it will be blowing hard here. Play early before it really blows). The greens are large and run true with a bit of speed (probably around 10). If you're betting your buddy, look out for the last three holes. Kinda of like Amen Corner.
Course has long distances and sloped greens making it very challenging
At first appearance course looks like it will be easy, but the holes are long with some doglegs and water on a few holes. Unless you are a long hitter (250 yards+) it will be very hard to score low on this course. Greens have subtle slopes that require careful reading to make correct putts. Very walkable course as it is out in the valley so not a lot of elevation to work with. Pace of play was good.=
Easy to walk course
A lot of good buys in pro shop even if it is small. Great Starter and staff. Large Greens makes for approach shots to be on target. Good snack bar and lots of TV"s to watch and have a cold drink and snack after golf.
Great condition and challenging!
This is the first course I ever played on when I was nine as my dad had access.
I was a bit worried the golfnow deal was only for retired/active-duty military/dod personnel but was pleasantly surprised it counted as an 'invitation'.
It's been over 20 years since I last played at Cypress Lakes and man, was I impressed. I did get my butt-kicked but had a great time out there with my pops on the day after Thanksgiving.
The greens were firm, fast, and consistent throughout 18.
Nice golf course
Nice condition, layout, & staff. Grass driving range beats hitting off mats. Gets a bit windy at times
It is often windy at this course
A major feature of this course is the prevailing wind. The weather report sait 10 miles, but I think it was closer to 20. Be prepared
Worth the money
Course looks wide open, but it actually requires accurate driving of the golf ball. No parallel fairways, so if you miss, you are penalized. 4 90 degree dog leg holes. If you miss the target line, good chance of running through the fairway into trouble. Greens don't have a lot of break, but tend to be quick.
This course is more challeging than you would think.
Cypress Lakes is a great value for the money. It is a well maintained course that makes you shoot good shots in order to paly a competitive round. Good staff and reasonable pace.
This course is a good test of golf for the price
The course is somewhat long and has difficult rough so you have to be accurate. The greens were receptive and rolled well.
course has no features to highlight
greens where not smooth, they looked spotted with growth. fairways brown hard, rough un kept
harder than it looks
The course is in very good condition. greens have good speed and they are harder than they look at times. On this day my son and I picked a bad cart that gave us trouble and we had to push and drive it back to club house. t
That aside, I would go back and play the course any time
