Travis AFB Winds
A flat course with sloping and undulating greens. Some fairways are wide and some are narrow and lined with tall mature trees. Most of the holes are guarded by well placed bunkers. The greens are fairly fast from having previously golfed this course; however, they had just been punched and sanded the day before. The wind was blowing 20-25 MPH which is very common having been stationed at Travis. A fun course that requires shot placement many times.
Not bad, but unremarkable
Military course, good value but you get what you pay for, very windy. Extremely flat, so not a ton of character, but they make due with what they have.
Highlight was the greens, firm, fast, and true given the limited budget they must be under. The closing 4 holes had lots of character and uniqueness. Was somewhat drab before then, which you'd expect given the lack of terrain.
This course is challenging and par 3s are short but hard to get birdies.
Good course and cheap for intermediate player like me
Great GolfNow
Even in drought, this course is in great condition. Most water hazards are dry but OB clearly marked. This is a perferct course for the novice to capable golfer with wide fairways but several challenging holes. A great value with the Golfnow booking!
Challenging course
This is a very challenging course. Mostly due to the wind. Even with the current drought this course was in good shape.
Prett windy
I knew by reading previous reviews of the course that there was a good chance of windy conditions; however, it was much windier than I thought it would be. It could be a hint of sadism but I actually enjoyed the aspect of playing in the wind for the first time in quite awhile. A few times it was a good two to three club wind in the face. It was pretty warm out so the wind was actually refreshing at times. Most of the water holes have dried up due to the dry conditions in northern California but I did find the lake next to the green on the par 3 11th when the wind pushed what originally looked like a good shot about 30 yards to the right into the water. Overall, I enjoyed myself in my 3 hour round but be prepared or some unusual conditions when you go to play here. A great value at golfnow rates. Great staff in pro shop and grill.
Extremely Windy Day
Upon checking in, pro shop avised "I told GolfNow not to set my T times." Excuse me, how would we as customers know what you discuss with Golf Now? So T time was delayed due to some intermural golf tourney/competition going on. Whatever the reason, we had no knowledge of the delay.
Quick rounds if you start around noon
Challenging course but can be very windy in the afternoon.
I could see this course being enjoyable...
...if it weren't so windy the day I played. It felt like I was in Jupiter's Great Red Spot. I don't even write reviews normally but I had to just to say how windy it was. I saw my ball go backwards in the air. Other than the wind, the layout was reasonably varied and somewhat scenic. The greens were fast and for the most part rolled true. I wouldn't drive too far out of the way to play here, but if you find yourself on Travis AFB with a morning to kill, I could think of worse ways to spend it.
Travis AFB Beauty
Played again for under $20!! Can't find a better deal. Can be a bit windy but thats part of the challenge. Never crowded..true greens and can play long. A little tough to find for out of towners..but well worth it. #Highly recommended!
A fair park style course
We played on a windy day, very strong delta wind, as far as course concerned, only last three holes give people some memory, we drove far from south bay, so its probably not worth to drive far to play this course.
Cypress Lakes offers chance to play a wide-open course of moderate difficulty
I especially like that, on a weekday, the pace was almost as fast as I could play. The course was in good shape, the greens were fast and smooth, and the fairways well-tended. It was windy, which the course is well-known for (out on the open plain of the CA Central Valley near Vacaville). I'd happily come again.
Hidden gem
Not many people outside of the Vacaville area seem to know about Cypress Lakes, and they don't know what they're missing. The greens are just about always excellent, fast and smooth. The rest of the course is in good shape. There are some challenging tee shots, which dare you to blow it over the trees on sharp doglegs. Good shots are rewarded. It does get windy sometimes.
Staff are nice but I would not choose to play here again
This is a very relaxed course that seems about right for newer golfers. The course is not very well maintained and it reminds me of a municipal course. Ok if you are local but do not drive far! There are far nicer courses on Golf Now.
Quiet and relaxing at a quality course
This is a finely manicured course that offers a lot of yardage and green grass. The course has a lot of variety throughout the holes and is a quiet atmosphere. The gameplay was relaxed and no pressure to run to the next tee. Everyone was friendly and the driving range is natural grass. The only downside is that this course is on flat ground and the winds are strong in this area. I would definitely play here again.
poor
poor overall condition especially the rough was terrible and not playable the best part of the course were the bunkers at lest they had sand in them
no major complaints
Fairways and greens were in nice shape this time of the year. Definitely worth the money on a hot deal. If I'm gonna pay regular prices, I'd rather pay the $10-$15 more at nicer courses within the area.
Cypres lakes golf course
Great value for the money. Course was in good shape, greens were excellent and practice area were nice. Driving range could have more stations but overall would recommend playing this course.
well maintained,
great value, great weather, nice staff ...do it here
Rediculous Rough
The course was a pretty simple track, up and back tree lined fairways with very little elevation gain. The greens and fairways were in good condition. The problem was the rough. It was very lush and way too high. If you didn't mark your ball perfectly, you had trouble finding it every time. I just think the rough could be cut a little shorter.
