Destroyer at Seal Beach Navy Golf Course
About
The Navy Golf Course Seal Beach is a 27-hole facility that includes the championship Destroyer Course and the nine-hole executive Cruiser Course. The 6,780-yard Destroyer Course presents a challenge even for low handicappers with a slew of hazards coming into play throughout. The small greens have challenging slopes ranging from subtle breaks to dramatic drop-offs. To make them even tougher, you'll find strategically placed bunkers lurking along the edges. The tricky doglegs, which are mostly par 4s, will force you to think carefully about your club selection, and to top it all off, water makes an appearance on almost every hole. It's a long golf course that feels even longer due to the rolling terrain, but it is more forgiving than it seems with long, wide fairways that won't penalize you for being slightly errant.

Horrid Pace of Play
Played on a Wednesday afternoon (3pm) and my god, the pace of play is horrendous. They don’t care to have a starter or Marshall in the afternoons to help pace of play. We were locked up behind 2 groups on every hole. Played 9 holes and left.
Good conditions, nice weather
Nice evening round. Well kept course, especially for the price.
No April Fools.. terrible/punched condition
Absolute terrible condition. All the greens very bumpy from recent punching and sand.
SIX holes had "alternate greens", basically a hole punched in the fairway with a flag.
No mention of this on the listing or at the time of booking.
Course
Navy course is one of lovely course in Orange County.
all green and fairway was well maintained.
play speed was little bit slow but finished 18hole for 4.1/2 hours. I recommend this course because play not too hard or not too easy.
Great vibes and views
Honestly first time playing here. The course is well kept and greens are challenging. Long course. Only down side is pace is slow. We started at 2:30 pm tee time. Started early around 2:25, however groups ahead of us played pretty slow. By 7 pm we only managed to get to hole 16.l, before being able to tee off we needed to head back to return carts by 720. Other than that I wished the mid point snack shop was open. Because at hole 10 you will be on the complete other side of the course from main office. There wasn't a cart running that day to buy any addition drinks or snacks.
Navy Destroyer
Challenging for first play. Great greens but a little slow. A course you need to play a few times.
Little slow but otherwise excellent
5 hour round midday on a Thursday but that was my only complaint. Fairways in great shape, greens were recently punched but rolled well and smooth. Great value, one of the most friendly staffs I have ever encountered. This course is pretty wide in most places with only water carries on par 3’s. One of my favorites!
Great course
The course was long and challenging. The greens are in great shape and the fairways were really nice. The pro shop staff were very friendly, the starter not so much.
Friday Golf
We had a very early teatime got there early didn’t realize the greens were just punched which would’ve been cool for Golf now to say that, but none nonetheless they gave us a discount for the inconvenience. Course is an excellent condition, especially for the value. Staff seemed friendly, very fair with the discounted rate. Excited to play the greens once everything’s grown back. Course has some challenges, but forgiving enough pretty easy to find your ball even after a bad shot pace of play was phenomenal considering we had a 6:30 AM teatime. I understand it’s early but I miss the days when there was always someone driving around with snack, snacks, and drink drinks while you were playing around.
Aerification
Normally this is a very nice course. But didn’t realize tell we got to the course that they had several holes with temporary greens in the fairway which had also been punched. It was $39/ person walking but still not worth that price.
Aerating
Wish there was a way for GolfNow or the course to tell GolfNow that they are aerating the greens and they are all closed. The only way of finding out that was when you get to the course and the course has it posted on the front door. They don’t mention that the front nine fairways are just being aerated and the soil cores have not been cleaned up. Not even on the temp greens!! I just feel ripped off. I’m fully aware that aeration is a necessity, but PLEASE let the information known.
Temporary Greens
Greens were only in the fairway and the fairway was being punched. So you can’t even putt it out.
