It was Ok

Was not happy with the conditions of the greens. It looks like were cover with something , hard and very fast. No grass on most of them.

Sandpaper Bay needs some good weather

Play this course every year on vacation. It has had a hard winter but usually is in good condition. It should recover when weather warms up.

The worst golf experience of my life

Our tee time was at 12:49. We hit our first ball at 13:15. We waited 3 to 7 minutes for each hole. The teebox, fairway and green are in very bad condition; no grass at all in the fairway, the greens are painted green, everywhere you look at is yellow and dry. We gave up after 16 holes, tired of constantly waiting. To avoid at all costs!

Overbooked and greens lousy.

Had a 1:41 tee time, got there place was obviously overbooked. People all over the place waiting to start. Got on course at 2:05. The first green we got on was in awful shape. Seemed to have 2 types of grass trying to grow on it. The worst part was they seemed to have rolled the green over and over so that the surface didn’t even look or feel like grass. More like a hard cardboard! This pattern continued for the full 18 greens! Finished playing 5 hours later. Too bad this was a nice course.

Terribe greens and fairway

I am sorry to say the greens were the worst I have every played on in my life. The others in my foursome totally agreed. It was like putting on cement with green powder on them. Could not determine how the putts would roll. Putted it and hoped. No grass on the greens and very little in the fairways. Our foursome was hoping to be in the rough where some grass existed. The best looking grass at the course was in front of the clubhouse as you drove up to drop your bags off. Immaculate. The fringes around the greens had decent grass. Other than that, the grass was nonexistent on the greens and fairways. One of the first courses I played in Myrtle Beach 20 years ago. I was told about the course by a friend who said it was his favorite course in Myrtle Beach. I played once since. Both times I would rank this on my top five. No more. Now it is in my bottom five.

Great Staff and Wonderfully Organized

Was a very good day at the course. The staff was outstanding treating us as treasured clients. So very organized but not militant or rude ever in their manners... A wonderful bunch and the course was fine . The greens were good and the fairways were recovering from tough winter and for March were in good shape

Never play

Golfnow should drop this course from the list. It was the worst course ever. They painted the greens and the fairways. They were mud.

Very pretty course

Pretty course but in sad condition at the moment. Should be dried out and in better condition in the following months.

Worst course ever played in Myrtle Beach

We have been coming to Myrtle Beach for over 15 years. Yesterday experience at Sandpiper Bay was the worst experience we've ever had in Myrtle. It was cart path only which was expected after a preceding day of rain. We booked for $38 and were told that it included a sleeve of balls. When we checked in we were told that didn't start until the 15th. How would I have known about the ball if I hadn't been told about the deal? It certainly wasn't a deal breaker. The problem was the condition of the course. HORRIBLE. the fairways were barren of grass and the greens were dyed compressed sand. No grass at all. I guess the course has fallen on hard times and can't even afford to keep 3 nines open. We will never visit this course again and will make sure that every golfer I know is aware of the conditions.

Horrible playing conditions

Had a group of guys down to play 2 rounds of golf and watch ACC hoops. This course was recommended by several folks to me. I was extremely disappointed. They fairways were nothing but mud with some teal green chemical sprayed on them. The greens may have been the worst I have ever tried to play. The course needs to be shut down until conditions improved. Pace of play was very slow... sometimes 4 groups stacked up on one hole. The guy who took my tee time was very nice, as were the guys in the pro-shop, but one of the starters was a total jerk to my group, as well as others that I witnessed. I won't be back.

Baffled

It was a nice layout with alot of potential...but the fairways and greens were green dirt in MANY areas.....perhaps sprayed with fertilizer?? Very difficult to hit and putt on! Maybe later in the spring this course plushes up and would be more playable but our round was unpleasant.

Good Course

We have played this course several times over the last few years, and still enjoying playing here. The greens did not look the best and were a little bumpy. This course gets a lot of play for this time of year and the pace of play was slow. Several times there were four groups on the same hole. But it is still an enjoyable course to play, and we will continue to come back.

GrasslessGreens

I have played Sandpiper Bay in past years and have always enjoyed the course. Unfortunately, I have never seen such terrible greens. Almost no sign of grass. Just hard packed dirt painted green. Perhaps in another month they will be nice but if you are looking for nice greens, I can't recommend Sandpiper Bay at the present time.

No grass

Really like the layout of this course but it is desperate need of maintenance. The fairways on most holes were in descent shape but several had very little grass and the tee boxes were pretty much painted sand. The last 3 holes we played had NO grass at all on the greens.... They literally painted dirt and that was the greens.
