What happened to this course?
It is a shame that this course is open. The entire course needs time to allow growth of its fairways and greens. Finding grass to play on , both fairways and greens was minimal. We know this course has been a great one in previous years, but one should not pay or play this course until conditions improve. Other courses in this area are not in this poor shape.
No grass
The one drive that missed the fairway was the best lie of the day. There was no grass on the fairways and very little on the greens. This course should be closed for repairs. Played this course last fall and it was in inpeccable condition. Bad management decisions and winter have wreaked havoc on this little gem
Poor fairways
I’ve played here before and the course was in much better shape. This time the fairways were virtually grassless. Course needs some tender loving care
Interesting Day
We were 40 minutes late to tee off. 5 hour + hour round. The system of running a 27 hole golf course needs attention. I was once a member at a 27 hole course never experienced anything like this. Once we were finally sent to the first tee 2 foursomes were waiting in front of us.Totally unorganized. The course itself is a nice layout well designed conditions were fair but expected at this time of year and at this price point. Nice practice facility but book early or you won't finish your round.
Great Course, Great Staff
Played the Sand course, we were supposed to move to Piper, but the course was backed up. The staff noticed and quickly moved our 4 some to the Bay course where we finished smoothly. Another great day at Sandpiper Bay and great save by the heads up staff!
Lovely course
The organization of the tee times was the worse I have ever seen. Our tee time was for 1:01. We finally got off the 1st tee at 1:40. The starter checked us in then he missed us and the other twosome. It was not a good time. Prior to that there was an issue with the bag person. So I will probably not ever go there again
Disappointing!
We have played this course several times each March for 8 or 9 years and it has always been one of our favourites. But after playing from grassless muddy fairways and putting on bare ground sprayed green pretending to be “greens” we left very disappointed.
Not like usual
My wife and I played here for the first time this season (Piper and Bay). We are snowbirds and just arrived in North Myrtle Beach for 2 months. We have always enjoyed Sandpiper Bay but this year's conditions were not very good. Greens in particular lacked much grass and were very shiny. Any spike mark showed up no matter how carefully you walked. 2 fairways were cart path only but others were quite damp.
Hopefully greens will improve as weather gets better. I love the layout of Sandpiper Bay so we were disappointed to see these conditions.
Mud like greens
The layout was fine and the fairways were not bad for the time of year. Significantly though the greens had not wintered well at all. Very little grass that seemed to be covered in layer of mud. Perhaps seeding is on the schedule?
Very disappointing
We couldn't believe this course was rated as a four star. So disappointed in the shape of it. Tee blocks had no grass, just sand. Greens seemed to be painted green with no actual grass. Not usually this critical but just had to be honest.
it was the saddest course conditions ive seen in myrtle beach.
fairways had no grass.greens were spraypainted. ive played here before and never seen it in this bad a shape.
This course will probably be better in the spring
The conditions of bay course was average. The conditions of the sand course was fair. The greens were covered with some kind of felt substance which made putting very unpredictable.
Course in great shape
Course was in great shape and a lot of play need more course Marshall was hit in to 3 times
Waited on every hole so there was no place to ho
Course needs to call 911
Played the Sand?and Piper....The Sand?was a total disaster...should be closed....Hitting off pure mud fairways and painted greens...Just awful...The Sand was in some better shape but you may want to go play putt putt....There was a lot of folks out golfing so I assume the 3rd must be in better shape
Fun day at SandPiperBay
Weather was great but course wasn't in the best of shape because some wet areas on fairways. Enjoyed the game though.
6100 yds plays like 6600 yds
Wed 2/21 was a gorgeous day...Sunny ...little wind...my wife and I were paired with to wonderful gentlemen. Pace of play was adequate ,4 hrs..20 min Unfortunately Sandpiper,(long one of my favorites in MB) was is terrible condition: Greens were sprayed and not well manicured, Fairways were the worst I've ever played on anywhere, ,ever...no grass and extremely muddy. I was shocked that we were told we go drive 90*. Being nearly 70 yrs playing the white tees at approx 6100 yds is a challenge ...I only hit my tee shot about 200-210 yds that's with roll. well over half of our tee shots plugged. Not Fun!
Could use better drainage also t boxes should be flat not turtle shaped
