#4 West is a cool short par three with several good tee angles into an undulating green. Photo submitted by DenisDotson on 03/28/2020

The best scenery is on #8 West - a long and testing par 5 along the Calabash River. Photo submitted by DenisDotson on 03/28/2020

Nice course--good value
Our group really enjoyed the round at Pearl-West. Course was in good condition. Greens were plush and held very well. Greens were s little on the slow side however. The layout was standard Myrtle Beach with tall pines and plenty of sand and water. Not a lot of memorable holes, but 16 and 18 were both par 5's and very challenging and memorable. Just one criticism--we couldn't figure out why there were no ball washers on the course or on the carts?
Overall, a good value at $31 on GN.
Nice Course
Played with the family on vacation. Have played many courses in Myrtle Beach area but this was the first time I have traveled into North Carolina to play. Played the Pearl West and pardon the pun but it truly was a pearl. Course was in good shape for the heat of August. Nice wide fairways and very receptive greens. Maybe a tad over watered but they held every shot that hit them and they rolled true. Unlike a lot of courses in Myrtle that you have to finesse your way around, the Pearl allowed for full swing and shot making. Truly enjoyed it and look forward to getting back there to play it again.
Great course for vacation stay
Me and the wife played here over vacation and it was perfect for the two of us. Only issue was with the Golf Now app and directions. You should just put the address in instead of using the API to go the map.
Pearl
Nice layout, overpriced for course conditions. Tees not mowed, greens slow
SLOW
We had members (or regulars) in front of us and they slowed the whole course. We finally saw a course employee on the 17th, but he was only a maintenance man. Never saw a Ranger the whole round. I would estimate it was almost a 6 hour round.
As this was my first time playing here, I am not certain how long a regular round should take, but when the 4 some in front of our 3 some walked (off their carts) back almost 100 yards looking for their ball and found it, I would say that is poor golf etiquette. There were holes open in front of them.
After the round I told the employee in the pro shop and all I got was an "Oh, sorry"
Well Worth It!
Very interesting and challenging layout on the West. Course was in great shape for hot summer. Hats off to the grounds crew! Pace of play great. Staff helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend and play again.
Very nice test
Very nice lay out, nice mix of challenging holes and some easier ones. Great bar and restaurant.
I
Nice layout / great shape
Would play again
Last 3 holes - good layout
Good to great shape fornit being in July.
Staff was awesome.
Upgrade the carts / paths - but you don't golf to test golf carts so no biggie.
Very Nice Course
This was my first visit to this course and it was a nice surprise. The course staff was very friendly and the course was in very good shape. It does have a few holes were past knowledge of the course would have been a big help.
I would definitely go back and play this course again
Pearl West still a must play
Pearl West is still a great layout. Course in good shape, and greens roll true.
I thought the course was a little over priced. I thought it was really narrow off the tee. Greens were what made the course. I would not probably play this course again. Finishing hole on 18 west needs to cut down the 2 trees blocking your approach shot. I thought that was a terrible finishing hole. Alligators on the course was cool though. Just average course to me.
Great First Vacation Round!!
I played this course as a single for a Hot Deal. The course has driving range and nice putting greens to warm-up. The staff was all friendly and I was paired up to make a four-some. We played the West Course in 4 Hrs. and 45 mins. We did have to wait on group ahead of us on back nine, so pace was little slow at times. Greens in great shape since they are Tif-Eagle you can't cut them very low with mower, but they rolled great and true. My only tip is for people playing, "fix your ball divots on green." We had a great time and I would love to come back and play the East Course!!!
OH, watch out for the gators!!
East vs. West?
I assume the extra $10-15 for the West Course means that more time and resources are spent maintaining it over the East. Tee to green, Pearl East is a great course! The traps are great, the layout is fun, and it wasn't really busy so the more novice guys in our group did not feel rushed. Some of the greens need a little work...a few of them need a lot of work. (I noticed them watering around 1:00PM, perhaps that's boiling the grass?) The other "needs improvement" area is the check-in time. It took about 15 minutes for us to pay, which cut into warmup and coffee time. The cashier needs to learn to work while he talks to the regulars. The bag drop and starter crew was awesome.
Good for beginner rec players but not for the better golfers
Greens were slow and bumpy. No rangers out to regulate play time so the foursome ahead of us just kept hacking away with 3 open holes ahead of them. Unacceptable!!! No ammenities on the east course anywhere. Never saw a cart girl and where there should be a turn shack is an empty hut. On 13 you are close enough to drive back to the clubhouse but by then what's the point
Greens didn't roll smooth. They were an older Bermuda that might've been nice 15 years ago but definitely needed to be redone. Fairway bunkers hadn't been raked in months it seemed. Cart path was falling apart. The clubhouse and the staff were extremely nice. They're 2 golf courses here and they only had 1 beverage cart running for the entire place. I think I saw her once. I will not play this course again
Great value
Very nice course. Can't beat the price. Course is well maintained. Kudos to the superintendent and grounds crew
