Set across 300 acres of lush Carolina Lowcountry, Hilton Head National Golf Club has earned its reputation as one of the region’s premier public courses.

A unique collaboration between golf legends Gary Player and Bobby Weed, the course offers two distinct nines that complement each other beautifully. Weed designed the front nine with larger, more dramatically contoured greens to contrast and balance Player’s strategically crafted back nine.

Among the most memorable holes is the challenging par-4 sixth — bordered along its entire right side by the course’s largest lake and protected by deep pot bunkers near the green. The back nine features several standout holes, including the long and demanding 16th, which ranks as the No. 1 handicap hole for women and No. 5 for men. And finishing strong, the par-4 eighteenth tests precision with a deep marsh running the length of the narrow fairway.

Together, these elements create a course that’s scenic, strategic, and rewarding for players of all skill levels.

A favorite in the area!

We hardly saw anyone on the course this trip. It was pretty windy, and the course was in incredible shape! Fairway grass was in and greens rolled perfect! It's a must for every trip down!

Good course, but a little pricey

The course is in excellent condition. Greens were a little fast but in great shape. The staff is helpful and friendly. A great experience. The pace was good, but we got backed up by a foursome that wouldn't let anyone pass. (They need to have a ranger on the course.) This was the only bad part of our experience. The price was alright, and while we received a discount through Military Tee Times, It is a little pricey for the course--this was confirmed by other golfers we spoke with.

Course was in good condition. Greens were all free of disease & brown spots. The grass in the fairways had come back & balls were rolling well. It’s a pretty straightforward course with few water hazards & not too many bunkers. Bunkers were in good condition.

Layout and scenery are nice and like the course ambiance and character. Also like that there are no homes around, but feel the conditions of the course don't warrant what they're charging for green fees. If you can get a discounted tee time, I'd play the track again, but wouldn't pay regular rate.

Things have changed at HHN

This course is always in good shape. This week it was in the best shape I can remember in the past 4 years. Awesome Course, Awesome Greens. The greens are crowned and are very difficult but in perfect condition. My only complaint? $110 because of the time of year.

In the past I have criticized this course for the attitude of the people that work there. I believe I said they thought they were the Pebble Beach of HIlton Head. Well they have heard the complaints and fixed the problem. Everyone in the pro shop and on the course was super friendly and treated the golfers with respect.

We played 6 courses in 3 days and this was my personal favorite. HIghly recommended.

If you can schedule for the afternoon you can get a decent price for the round.

A Great Value Proposition.

Really enjoyed everything about the course, from being greeted promptly and cheerfully by the bag attendant, pace of greens,and solid course layout. Firm conditions allow you to step. Ack a set of tees if you want to challenge get yourself a bit more. Tips are only 6700, so not to long. Anywhere between 20-40% less than courses on Hilton Head proper.
