About
Grand Canyon University Golf Course (formerly known as Maryvale Municipal Golf Course) offers an 18-hole track designed by Ted Robinson, Sr. and built in 1961. The par-71 golf course measures 7,269 yards from the championship tees and is open year-round.
The Bermuda grass Grand Canyon University Golf Course gets plenty of shade during the summer, thanks to several onsite trees, and features flat and wide fairways.
The fourth hole, for one example, is a 160-yard par-3 where you'll have to shoot over the water - and past the brick wall that separates the green from the water.

Played it 6/22
Course undergoing summer maintenance so not great conditions greens recently punched and fairways being scraped while I was there. Still not too bad
Always worth the drive
This course continues to be one of the best values in the valley. Middle of summer and course is in great shape. Green smooth and true, bunkers well maintained and fairways green.. if you need some extra misery in your game, play back tees where the school team plays...ouch!
Course conditions were great and price was right. Pace of play could be a lot better. Overall good experience!
Great outing
Everything was prefect, except no cart person on the course, should warn players bring your drinks & snacks.
Slow play and bunker city
If you like bunkers this is your course. We also got stuck behind a group shanking it left and right and using 3-4 balls each. Not to mention they picked up our ball on a par 3, how do you manage to do that? Where are the rangers these days?
Extremely disappointed
We had heard nothing but great things about this course - and honestly thought a University course (even if in name only) would have been in better shape. The fairways were mud with no grass. The greens looked nice but every putt wobbled and bumped. The nicest compliment is the tee boxes were in good shape. Our first time playing and probably will not be back (even if someone else paid).
Walkers EVERYWHERE
We played this course for $45, standard rates are $80+
Even for the discount it wasn’t worth it. I couldn’t imagine those who pay full price. Fairways were mushy. Greens were by far the best part of the course so I will give them that.
Every group in front seemed to have at least 1-2 people walking the course. I understand the those trying to get a workout but on a holiday they need to limit that. Slows down the pace of play tremendously.
I would not go back unless it was free.
Reasonable
Nice course but all bunkers need work!
Cart was difficult to steer.
Great course
If you can fight throw the middle of the City traffic and hit the only gate that is open on 59th Ave, then you have arrived a wonderful golf challenge. There is plenty of distance for those who wish they were on tour and love that $500 Driver they buy each season, but never shaved any stroke, because we all know you score with the short game!
Best course conditions
The greens and tee boxes were in marvelous condition. The course was open and fairly forgiving (except for the numerous bunkers). Enjoyed it.
