About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in Apr 2018.
Villa de Paz Golf Course was voted the top affordable 18-hole course in the Valley of the Sun, according to the Arizona Republic. The parkland course challenges top golfers, though it's not so difficult that beginners will wish they'd golfed elsewhere. After a 2002 remodel, the par-71 course measures 6,700 yards and offers water on 10 holes. If Phoenix in summertime intimidates, fear not: at Villa de Paz Golf Course, shade abounds, due to mature trees lining several fairways. Shoot for birdies or eagles, do so, but wisely. Reward has risk. Shooting sharply is especially required on holes like the fourth, a par-4 450-yarder with a severe right dogleg. Hitters dig the seventh, eighth and 15th, par 4s that can be nailed from the tee. The 18th mixes distance and skill. The par-4 470-yarder doglegs right and requires a carry over a lake to reach the three-tiered green. Fancy a warm-up before the Villa de Paz Golf Course? Use the handy practice area, with its range, two-tiered hitting zones and highlighted target areas at different yardages so you can check your length -- and the wind.

Villa De Paz Review.
Played the course on 1/09/2015. Course was generally in pretty good shape. The greens are in very good condition. Hooked up with a gentleman after 9 holes and played the back nine with him. He knew the course and it really was fun playing the back nine. I also think the back nine is in better shape than the front nine. Overall, a good experience and well worth the money.
Fun Course for Beginners
Good course for beginners and novice. Great Price!!! Friendly staff! Course in relaxed neighborhood .
Winter prices good deal for the money
Had sand in the traps which was good to see, some bare spots in the fair way and a lot of them off the fairway but playable. Greens very short and spotty but playable. I'm nearly 77 years of age and have shot 78 and 79 last couple of rounds on this course and would not have been able to so do if it wasn't playable. Will play it again during the winter months.
The best and worst of Villa De Paz
A very Interesting and challenging layout. The total Golf experience would be improved 100% by getting rid of the geese!
el mecanico
Average conditions. Good for you money for a good practice.
Not too good
The staff was very friendly but the course was pretty bad. Tees, greens, and fairways were all in bad shape. It looked like you could have been mugged out the back door of some of the houses. I believe I saw 6 beware of dog signs along the cart path and it should have been 20. Definitely will not be retuning.
Embarrassing dump
Chewed up greens on every hole, filthy golf carts, and a course full of hackers and trash. I wouldn't pay $1 to play this awful course. It's the worse one I've played in Phoenix.
Dog legs and water
I have played the course 3 times and you'd think it would get easier each time. Not the case (with me, anyway). Numerous ponds guard the front of greens. You'd better layup, or pray that shot will carry. Plan on loosing a lot of balls. If you hit into the waterway that separates fairways, you best hurry to it, because the current will carry it into the ponds.
Short tester
The course is not in the greatest shape, but for the rate I paid, I didn't expect too much. Greens are OK. Rough is here and there. Villa De Paz is not the longest course, but it has a few holes that test your skills and course management. I was a single, stuck behind a couple of groups, so pace of play was terrible. I had to wait on nearly every hole. But, I teed off after noon and completed 18 holes, which was my goal, so I was satisfied. I would play here again.
Typical Westside Course Within a Subdivision.
The course is not going to set any new standards in course look or feel, but it was in decent shape and provided a nice challenge at several holes. The course was built in the late-70's I would guess. The surrounding environment is middle-class suburbia and sort of makes the course ordinary in just about every way. The rough was allowed to go 'wild' in several areas which also took the edge off the experience. If you are looking for a different course to play for a change, this was not a bad little one to try.
Golf Course Opinion
1> Tee off markers were sometimes there, sometimes not, sometimes one would be there and sometimes no marker at all but, seldom, were both markers in place.
2>Cart path not completed, some of it was muddy, as no cemented path at all in that location.
3> staff out watering the course in the middle of the day when most people were playing. Couldn't they water it early morning or late in the day?
nice facelift
haven't played here in about a year, my wife and I used to play here all the time till we moved to Surprise, played Saturday with my father and had a great time, I was expecting a mad house for the time of year and a Saturday as that's what I experienced allot last year but to my surprise the groupings were sent out at a good pace and not just pushing as many players as possible, the clubhouse got a facelift and looks great, always a friendly staff "thanks Barry" and the course was in nice shape, great pace of play, just a great day of golf and looking forward to playing this winter again
Laid back, friendly staff.
Took my wife with me, played the white tees and she beat me on the back nine. Don't recommend going to early because it was very cold in the cart. Water is not much in play except a pesky little creek that seems to run through the entire course. Unpretentious, nice pace, good value. We plan to play it again.
Very surprised
I have not played this course in some time but I was pleasantly suprised It was well worth the cost and would play is again.
Pratique
Je suis allé jouer à ce terrain sans attentes...Ayant acheté un "hot deal" avec golfnow à
12$ cart inclus...C'était parfait pour une pratique... Je ne payerais pas le plein prix pour jouer
à cet endroit...
good value
Some fun holes in beautiful fall weather. Very green. Long afternoon shadows.
Great Price
Course in in great shape, but has no marshal to keep track of pace of play. Group ahead of use were at least two holes behind so we skipped a hole. Smoot sailing after that.
COULD be nice little course
After teeing off at the first hole we had great hope for beautiful course conditions. Friendly course staff added to the hope. However drenched fairways, some damage to greens, poor hole markings left us a bit disappointed with the day. Not bad location to take a junior to play but don't think we will play again. We had an over anxious pair behind us that insisted on hitting into us while we were putting, refusing to play through and no course marshal.
Great rate
The price was excellent as well as the course condition. I will be playing there again.
