Villa de Paz Golf Course was voted the top affordable 18-hole course in the Valley of the Sun, according to the Arizona Republic. The parkland course challenges top golfers, though it's not so difficult that beginners will wish they'd golfed elsewhere. After a 2002 remodel, the par-71 course measures 6,700 yards and offers water on 10 holes. If Phoenix in summertime intimidates, fear not: at Villa de Paz Golf Course, shade abounds, due to mature trees lining several fairways. Shoot for birdies or eagles, do so, but wisely. Reward has risk. Shooting sharply is especially required on holes like the fourth, a par-4 450-yarder with a severe right dogleg. Hitters dig the seventh, eighth and 15th, par 4s that can be nailed from the tee. The 18th mixes distance and skill. The par-4 470-yarder doglegs right and requires a carry over a lake to reach the three-tiered green. Fancy a warm-up before the Villa de Paz Golf Course? Use the handy practice area, with its range, two-tiered hitting zones and highlighted target areas at different yardages so you can check your length -- and the wind.

Pace of play
On no course that I have ever played did they allow groups of 5 to go off the tee box at the same time. It really slows down the pace of play and made for a 5+he round. I love the game of golf, but there is no reason to be out there that long forb18 holes. The course wasn't taken care of and it seems they allow you to drive your cart about anywhere. The greens and fairways were pretty well taken care of, but the rest of the course was not very eye appealing. For the price it was alright to play once, but I don't plan on a return visit anytime soon.
OK, if you're a beginner.
The course was in rough shape with weeds instead of grass along the fairways. The surrounding community is depressing with backyards full of barking dogs. The tee boxes were chewed up and the bunkers lacked sand. At $35.00 a round weekdays I expected much more.
Substandard Course Management
We teed off 35 minutes late and then waited on every tee at from five to ten minutes before being able to continue. We also waited on the fairways. They totally overbooked the course and there was no course ranger to help speed up play. It appears that no one replaces divots on the fairways and the greens are full of un-repaired ball marks. We had two groups of 5 players in front of us. We will never play there again, no matter what the price.
this course was. too slow
Nice course. Play was slow. Course was in good shape...........................
1st round of season,good value.
Nice track to warm up season .early tee time single with cart 2:15 to do round, greens still fast even after night of rain, good value,
Best course for the money anywhere
This is the course that I will play each year when we come to AZ for the winter. The course is somewhat forgiving yet has some very challenging holes. A good test for the intermediate to advance player. Will also play other course in Idaho (Stoneridge_
Experence at villa de Paz
Course was enjoyable, moderately challenging. Good layout for early in the year rounds. All around a very enjoyable experence. Will play again today.
Somewhat disappointed
Not a great course...fairways in poor shape, greens in very poor shape. Two holes too close to driving range. Carts were dirty with trash from previous occupants. Considering we played after 1:30 pm, poor value.
Nice Day
Great little course, can't beat it for the price! Course was in nice shape. Play was a tad slow, but it was a holiday. Some unique holes, lots of water...sand. Fairly challenging. But for the price...what a great deal!!
Slow Pace of Play
This is my third review of Villa De Paz. Because of the relatively low price, this course tends to draw a large afternoon crowd. Yesterday was a 5+ hour round, with a 20 minute delay on the start. This curse also draws many beginners so rounds should be separated by a few more minutes to help the crowding.
Very slow, sub-par conditions
I had never played at this course before but a friend recommend it to me as an affordable place. When I checked in, I was told the course was running about 10-15 minutes behind; we teed off 20 minutes after our tee time. The pace was INCREDIBLY slow in the beginning and it took us 2 hours to play four holes. There was certainly no marshall to speed things up, and I don't know if the groups ahead were inexperienced or the course overbooked tee times, but it was brutal. Course condition were so-so, definitely not well kept. Greens and fairways were mostly green and grassy, not much time or money put into tee boxes or rough. I probably would not play here again.
Not the greatest condition
I normally only play at Coldwater but I ended up getting talked into playing here. The condition of the course was rough and it ended up taking 5 hours because they were backed up. Definitely going back to coldwater
nice afternoon
met a nice gentleman..pleasant afternoon..play was a little slow..greens fast a few pars..overall a nice day.
Good value for the money
Course was a little rough, but the greens and fairways were OK
Tired and worn
Really bad condition tho fairway and greens are ok. Set in a really run down part of town. Ok value for money and good if you need a fix but not a very good overall experience. Too bad because actual layout of course is good.
Decent Course
Not always in great condition, but not that busy usually and close to house
Villa de Paz review
Good value for the $. Fun course design, but was in bad shape. Too bad the course is closing in a few months. They are not taking care of it because of that.
Play this course
We should all be playing this course. It has some challenging holes and nice quick greens. Fairway is in good shape. You cant beat the price. Rumor has it that they want to sell to a developer. Lets save this nice course that charges reasonable rates.
Greens are ready!
After months of reseeding, and super slow greens, the greens at Villa de Paz are now all grown in, and mowed sharp. Very fast now!! Course is awesome, price is fantastic, but is very busy. Please fix your ball marks, and someone elses. Please fix your divots, and someone elses. Enjoy the greens! Wicked!
