About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in Apr 2018.
Villa de Paz Golf Course was voted the top affordable 18-hole course in the Valley of the Sun, according to the Arizona Republic. The parkland course challenges top golfers, though it's not so difficult that beginners will wish they'd golfed elsewhere. After a 2002 remodel, the par-71 course measures 6,700 yards and offers water on 10 holes. If Phoenix in summertime intimidates, fear not: at Villa de Paz Golf Course, shade abounds, due to mature trees lining several fairways. Shoot for birdies or eagles, do so, but wisely. Reward has risk. Shooting sharply is especially required on holes like the fourth, a par-4 450-yarder with a severe right dogleg. Hitters dig the seventh, eighth and 15th, par 4s that can be nailed from the tee. The 18th mixes distance and skill. The par-4 470-yarder doglegs right and requires a carry over a lake to reach the three-tiered green. Fancy a warm-up before the Villa de Paz Golf Course? Use the handy practice area, with its range, two-tiered hitting zones and highlighted target areas at different yardages so you can check your length -- and the wind.

Needs upkeep
This course would be so nice if they would keep up the fairways. It's not even summer yet and they are all brown. Peoria Pines which is not far from this course is kept very nice year round as well as other courses in this price range. I will not be going back until they can begin keeping the course nice.
Good course for the money
Little dry in places but the greens are good and well maintained for summer time. Cheap tee time for a 72 par, worth every penny.
Great day of golf
I had not been to Villa de Paz in about a year but it has always been a course I enjoy playing. I could not putt this particular day but I had a great time with a good friend and the course played good. Pace kept moving and was in good shape on the whole. Greens were quick today but the course is in good condition. Highly recommend this course to others.
Greens were fun
For the price. Well worth it. Very pleasent staff.
horrible
It was horrible by the tine I teed off it was really wendy by the fourth hole it started to rain so I payed $32 dollars for 4holes I was pretty upset.
Nice course
Overall the course was nice lots of water hazzards! So bring ur snorkel..
Don't hit into the "rough"
The fairways on this course are pretty nice right now, but don't hit into the rough! I am not a good golfer and missed into the rough a bit, which isn't really rough. The grass in the rough is most dirty and a little bit of sparse grass, and pretty much impossible to hit out of. Also our round started @ 2:45 PM and the cart rolled by on the 1st hole and called last call! There was also a kids golf event going on that bottlenecked us on the 5th-8th holes, causing our round to take about an hour longer than it should've, and we weren't able to finish. The greens were pretty nice except no one was fixing their ball divots. Like another reviewer said, this course is nice for a ractice round, at a good price, but that is all.
Good course
This place is kind of a hidden gem...try hitting from the blues....
Good course for practice
This course is a typical or a little below municipal golf course. The greens were excellent, the fairways were good, but the rough areas and the surrounding visuals were not good. We had a beginner with us: It is good for beginners or practice rounds, but I would not want to play it for a destination round.
First Visit
Interesting small course, fairly tight fairways. FAR TOO MUCH casual water on course from apparent over-watering. Puddles everywhere on course, cart paths and in several inches deep in sand traps. Coming from the mid-west to AZ, I know the course will not be lush and green, but I would have expected better grooming along the edge of the fairways, and there is an appalling amount of litter on the edges. The maintenance on the cart seems rather slipshod, evidenced by the rough running on starts. The path to the next hole needs to be marked, as several places cross the street with no indication where to go.
Very slow play.
This course was very slow to play (4.75 hours) and was not in good condition. The course at this time of year should be in great condition but was not. If you did not stay on the fairway then you would be in deep bur clover weeds. This course may have been overbooked or a marshall should have moved play along. I would not play this course again.
Afternoon at Villa de Paz
I had not played the course in many years. Greens were in pretty good shape and, I found, tough to read. The fairways are tight, mature tree lined, and present a good challenge. I played from the back tees which made the track pretty long for a neighborhood course. Play was pretty slow and I did not see a ranger on the course. Overall, the course needs TLC and the neighborhood (homes lining the course) have really gone downhill over the years. Sad to see how bad the decline has become. Will probably play it again a few more times this year but not real often.
Not a bad course
Could use more attention. Homes on course were terrible. Messy back yards and too many dogs.
Villa De Paz
Excellent golf course for the money. Challengingly fun! Excellent clubhouse staff.
Mad dog
Course is in decent condition, plays short but has spots where one has to be careful. Greens are in nice shape. Watch out for the dog that gets out of his owner's yard on 14 or 15. Saw groundskeeper chase him back into his yard and save twosome ahead of me, then groundskeeper came over and warned me about the dog, who apparently gets out of yard frequently and has anger issues. I'll play there again, but will have a club ready just in case.
Great greens! Fun course! Great bargain! NOT A SECRET. lol
This is my home course, and will be a repeated review, but after a rough summer, the greens are fantastic! And difficult! Slopes and reads you'll rarely see, and they roll true and consistent now. .... The layout on this course is fun for all skill levels. Check out the score card, you'll find a tee box you'd like to tackle, and you'll see some great signature holes with a par 3 at 230yds from the whites, reachable par 5's, and lakes that you can't ignore. ... The price for this quality of course is THE best in the valley, even though its on the "outskirts", its EXTREMELEY busy. If you finish a round in 4 1/2 hours, its a good day. SLOW PLAY!!! .... Heavy use, some greens are pelted badly.... PLEASE fix your ball marks, and someone elses. Fill your divots, and someone elses. Rake the bunkers! . Course is too busy and awesome to be rude. :P
PS: Give the 19th hole a try.. Big screens EVERYWHERE! And surprisingly good food! Fun to check out. :)
