Villa de Paz Golf Course was voted the top affordable 18-hole course in the Valley of the Sun, according to the Arizona Republic. The parkland course challenges top golfers, though it's not so difficult that beginners will wish they'd golfed elsewhere. After a 2002 remodel, the par-71 course measures 6,700 yards and offers water on 10 holes. If Phoenix in summertime intimidates, fear not: at Villa de Paz Golf Course, shade abounds, due to mature trees lining several fairways. Shoot for birdies or eagles, do so, but wisely. Reward has risk. Shooting sharply is especially required on holes like the fourth, a par-4 450-yarder with a severe right dogleg. Hitters dig the seventh, eighth and 15th, par 4s that can be nailed from the tee. The 18th mixes distance and skill. The par-4 470-yarder doglegs right and requires a carry over a lake to reach the three-tiered green. Fancy a warm-up before the Villa de Paz Golf Course? Use the handy practice area, with its range, two-tiered hitting zones and highlighted target areas at different yardages so you can check your length -- and the wind.

The course was not in very good shape
A flat course with very little to offer. The greens were large but where not in great shape ( could be the time of year) The fairways were not bad, but a few of them were sloped enough or hard enough that your ball would end up rolling into the hard pan or into a small creek that ran through a number of the holes.
This course is fun to play.
This course is fun to play as well as challenging. I would recommend this course to anyone at any time.
Challenging target course.
I've played Villa De Paz GC about 10 year's now. Very challenging, demanding course. Water and ruff will cost you, but keep attention to what your doing, and you can shoot a good score, one that you will be proud of. Altrough challegning, new commer's to the game will appreicate what the pro's fill like in a tournament. I love it, not boring, miss a hit, you pay for it, and there are hole's were you can redeem those miss hits. All in all a great course. My boy dosen't like it, he shot par on the front nine??
Price was right .
Good price, course needs attention, pace of play was very good.
Good peak season course.
Villa was in the best shape I have seen in the winter. It is not an overly challenging course but worth it to play with the lower rates. The finishing three holes are very challenging and can make or break your round. Greens were in good condition as were the fairways and tee boxes.
Great Value
Although this course can sometimes play painfully slow, we had a great day. We play here frequently. Bare spots here and there, but not really any more than other courses.
Terrible shape - cannot recommend
The course was in TERRIBLE shape - overgrown, very shaggy, greens with bald spots, bunkers all ragged, old carts, etc. Yes, it had recently reopened after over seeding, but this looked like years of neglect. To make it worse, many of the houses surrounding the course were in disrepair, some even boarded up, and some huge, angry, howling dogs charged at us behind some very shaky-looking chain link fence. With all the great options for golf in the valley, why would anyone choose this place?
Greens are slow and ball marks are everywhere. Unwanted water on cart paths, making mud. Interesting layout.
rough shape, but fair value. Great staff personalities in the cafe.
little early for the greens as they are patchy
play slow as usual, Tee boxes are rolling hills, Im thinking they should be flat, square, and plum as possible, greens are patchy, a lot of areas with no grass, lack of seeding...I will take pics from now on when I play where ever....
Nice parkland style course
Nine hole have water or a creek on it. 4 tees plus a Senior tee are available. There are many bare spots throughout the course. The greens have rutted out and bumpy areas. The course can be muddy for a long time after a rain. There are many false fronts and elevated greens. There are 5 good doglegs. The challenge is there.
Good time for the money
The course was in pretty rough shape. Especially the greens. They were extremely slow. But, we booked out Tee Time through Golnow.com for $8 per person, so it was a great value. I' ve played here before and I know the course will get better in a couple of weeks.
great staff and nice course
The course had recently been overseeded and was lush and green.
Excellent value
Overseeding coming in. The course was in pretty good shape, with the exceptions of the greens which were poor. The course was a much better value than most at this time.
Course was very rought after overseeding.
A good layout with some interesting greens. I will give it a couple of months to heal and try it again.
horrible
t''his was the worst cousre i have ever played, greens were bad.would not go back for frree.
course is average they were getting ready to re-seed
Play the course fairly regular as it is close by, it is a fairly easy course with some water. Bunkers need attention as they can be quite hard packed.
Sunmer week day, mid day.
This course is always fun. The rough can be rough at times, fairways are usually in good shape. Hole #4 can be a real challange. Even in the peak times the price is still GOOD!
fun layout
great staff and course is aways in good shape and fun to play.
Needs some TLC in the rough
I always love this course, but the conditions the last couple of times have been less than optimum. The rough was 4 to 6 inches deep and we lost two balls each that were burried somewhere within a few feet of the fairways.
I realize that the idea is to hit the fairway, not the rough, but we are amateurs, not PGA pros, and rough like that can really slow down play and take away from the enjoyment of a course for the average player.
that being said, the course is still one of my favorites and the greens were perfect!
