Toiyabe Golf Club

I love this course from the mountains to the trees to beautiful homes and master plan. Want to buy a house here. Love it.

Playing it for the first time was challenging. Will definitely come back again next time I am in the area.

We had a windy day and it felt like we had the golf course to ourselves. They need to work on their watering some dry spots and some really wet areas. I would play it again.

Got the first tee time at 7am. I was a single and paired with a family who were beginners so we decided it would be best if i just played ahead of them as a single. Had a great front 9, kinda catching the agronomy staff so i laid back and let them do their thing. All good. Finish hole 11 and theres 30 carts driving out to every tee on the back 9. Shotgun start for a senior tournament. There was absolutely no point in trying to continue. This was not disclosed by the proshop staff at all. A course marshal came by and was very nice and said i should see the proshop staff to try to get some resolve, maybe a discount or something. I went to proshop and the gentleman told me i was in the wrong for playing as a single. That i played too fast. Terrible attitude, no help at all and blaming the customer for playing too fast. Unreal. I guarantee the group i was originally with (first group out on the course!) ran into this log jam on the back 9. This place is only interested in maximizing profit, not catering to true golf enthusiasts and the spirit of the game. Its a really fun challenging course with good greens, but sadly run by extremely poor management.

Unfortunately we were only a twosome between 2 foursomes so it was slow but it’s a beautiful course/gorgeous day and worth the money.

But only worth it on a good deal. There were spots on every hole that was mushy and muddy. Also, one of the few courses I’ve bought a tee time for and had to buy range balls separate. Still very nice and scenic though!

It was a hot day so disappointing that there was no ice in the cooler and I didn’t see an ice machine to self serve. Didn’t see the cart person until the back nine. Again, since it was hot, it would have been better to have service sooner. The bathroom needed some attention/cleaning. No marshall until the last few holes so it was a slow day even with a mid-morning start.

The golf course is fun with a great layout. I have 2 issues with the course.

1st , you don't have gps on the carts or yardage books in the shop. There are a lot of unseen penalty areas that people can't see or know what the yardage is to them.

2nd, and most importantly. You water the course way to much and at the most wrong times. The course is muddy and standing water is everywhere. The sand traps are not sand traps. The are compacted mud holes that can't be played from.

You address these 2 situations seriously , and you have quite the gem on your hands.

Great course, fair prices. Conditions are good with the only thing to complain about being some soggy areas. Greens are fast and roll true, fairways/tee boxes are in good condition. Clubhouse staff is friendly and the bar makes good drinks.
