Always a solid play
The Wizard is one of my favorite layouts. We come to the area every winter and it is my first go to round. The course is always in pretty good shape, and its a good course to play if you arent getting out to play much in the winter bc at least the first 15 holes wont beat you up.
Its a links like course-again at least the first 15 holes. And generally alot of room to miss on your tee shot. Not really any forced carries until the last 3 holes.
The tees and fairways were in beautiful condition. The greens didnt look too good in my opinion. Not nearly as pretty as i have seen them here before in the winter. But they rolled and putted fine. They are repaving parts of the cart path that were in rough shape.. And you get 2 drinks and a sandwich included with your round. The service is about average. The clubhouse which is an old castle could you some updating. The golf carts are newer and in good shape.....but no extras...no GPS/ball washer/club cleaner etc...
All in all I love the course and play it every year and highly recommend it to anyone!
Course in excellent shape for time of year. Players not fixing divot marks, which speaks more to golfers than course. Staff super friendly.
Hey!! Golfnow!!!
You've asked me 6 times now to review the "Wizard". Get up to date will you?? IT'S CLOSED FOR GOOD
Maintenance and staff concerns
In from Scottsdale, AZ and wanted to give the Wizard a try as it was a reasonable priced (not bargain) golf. Think we paid $100 a head. We were followed our first 6 holes by John Deere ride ons and large tractors to cut grass… not used to golfing with constant noise, and distraction. Maybe it’s a South Carolina thing? Would also have liked to tip the guys handling bags, but they sat and watched. Prob try a different place.
Spectacular course
Es great, wide open challenge for all golfers. Wide fairways, water about but easy to play around. A Fi not miss course if in Myrtle Beach. Certainly a stop next time here. Thx
Crabgrass.
Course soaked and cart path only, not their fault. But several greens on the front were in rough shape and lots of crabgrass on fairways.
Soaked.
Staff very nice. Course hasn’t been kept up. Crabgrass everywhere, some greens where horrible. For the money you can do better.
I’ll be back
Awesome course Ill bring my friend back in the fall. I live in Aiken sc
Nice
Very nice course layout. Greens were recently aerated and sanded. Would have been nice to have known prior to play.
Green are fixing now. So bad
There are millions of mosquitoes at courses, horrible
Not worth stopping
If you are a single digit handicap or a golfer that is looking for a nice course to play in Myrtle Beach with friendly staff, do not pick the Wizard. From the time we arrived at the bag drop we were treated poorly. The condition of the course was well below average.
Seems like some rude old local guys have taken over the daily morning play. Not a place that I would ever recommend to my guys that frequent Myrtle Beach.
This was once a good course to play 30 years ago but not now. Very poor experience!
