TPC Myrtle Beach

This course had a great blend of interesting holes and challenging features. The course was immaculate and the greens were fast and true. This course may have been the in the most perfect shape of any course I have ever played.

Great course layout in great shape , very slow play

I played at TPC Myrtle Beach with three friends on Friday, March 28th. This is my first time playing a TPC course and it didn’t disappoint. The course itself was in phenomenal shape. Every hole is unique and very rarely see other holes except for the one you are playing. The course is fair but will provide a challenge on wayward shots. The greens were smooth and fast. According to the sign at the starter station the green speeds were running from 11 to 11.5. according to the Stimpmeter. It’s hard to pick a favorite hole because they were all unique in their own way. The entire staff from the bag drop, to the restaurant, to the pro shop were extremely nice and professional. I would not hesitate to go back and play it again. I would recommend sitting outside on the porch after your round, enjoy the views of the surrounding area and watch your fellow golfers navigate number 18.

Very challenging course for a double digit handicap. We had a blast!

Everything you would expect from a TPC course. In phenomenal condition. Perfect greens.

The reputation of TPC courses is supposedly good. This course needs work on its greens, as they are lacking in a puttable surface. The fairways are very, very tight, so more grass would be helpful. You’re better off in the first cut. The course is very fun and a challenge for all.

We learned that the course had been completely overseeded when we checked in and it was recommended by the person checking us in that we spend more warm up time on the putting green than hitting balls on the range. The reason for his recommendation became very evident when we found that the greens were probably running 6-7.

Out tee time was 10:40. We found that the fairways on the front nine had not been cur leaving grass at least one inch high.

The stater informed us that it was cart path only on at least four holes 1,10,16,18. Also on the holes carts were allowed, the fairway exits were as much as 30 -40 yards from the greens. These conditions slowed the pace of play. Our senior couples foursome waited on a number of tees and fairways.

Had information on any of these conditions been available during the booking process, we probably would not have booked the time.

We were anticipating a great experience playing the TPC course. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. Being advised at the pro shop when checking in, that we should spend our warm up time on the putting green rather than hitting balls on the range didn’t prepare us for the slowness of the “over seeded greens” on the course. Added to that, we were advised by the starter that we wouldn’t get much roll on the over seeded fairways. What he didn’t share was the fairways and tees on the front nine and some of the back nine had not been mowed, leaving a grass height of at least one inch. Not what we expected from a TPC course. Additionally, there was no information available prior to booking that a number of the holes would be cart path only; 1, 10, 16, 18 and the signs directing carts to leave the fairways were as much as 30 yards from the green. Even with that our senior couples foursome was waiting on a number of holes to tee off or hit our approach shots. More and better information on current course conditions should have been available prior to booking.

We played the Bear’s Club in Hilton Head two days prior. It too had been overseeded but was much more playable for quite a bit lower fees on the weekend prior.
