Rio Secco

About
Designed by Rees Jones and Keith Evans, Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson affords great views of the Las Vegas Strip below as golfers try to find the course's tricky bentgrass greens. Said greens can be difficult to read, and if you find yourself above the hole, two-putts become a real challenge. One of the most talked about holes, the 200-yard par-3 12th, plays over a valley to a large green that slopes severely from back to front. Back pin positions are difficult, but a front location can yield aces as everything seems to funnel to that spot. Rio Secco is also home to the Butch Harmon School of Golf.

It’s in great condition all around.
Came to enjoy a round with my lady. She really had a great time, course was in great condition. Price wise, it’s Vegas so you gotta pay to play. But definitely recommend if you come to play here anytime soon. Free range balls with paid round. Cart has iced cooler with 2 water bottles in each. Very needed. Play early and enjoy!
Great course
Great golf course in excellent condition. Interesting layout, greens rolled really well.
Full price for terrible condition
Bunker renevations
Fairways not cut in weeks
Should have been told about the conditions especially since we had to finish our round in the dark more or less but was told “course is in prime conditions”
I’d stay away at the price even if the course was in great shape
Two thumbs up
Course is looking great greens a little slow due to getting ready to over seed
Great but slow greems
Great overall but the greens were insanely slow. I would guess like a 6 on the stump
Hot fun in the Summertime
From cheetah green discourse is the best I’ve played on. Brains were super uniform in the mix between lush grass and desert environment really nice. That the layout was challenging. I gave it a four-star for the price they charged but I would definitely pay her again.
Great Track
Played an early morning round with some good friends. We where a bit late since my buddy, the birthday boy had an all nighter, and we were accommodated and pushed back a few minutes. The staff members were friendly and very helpful. The course was in beautiful conditions, fairways were lush and the greens were rolling great, but were a bit of a challenge to read. That’s totally on me, I’m not that good. Bunkers were being worked on and it had rained the night before so they were a bit unplayable. The views were phenomenal. I ended up shooting 84 with a 6 on the last par three with two in the water and two that the desert ate up.. No Birdies that day, had my chances but like I said, couldn’t read a green . My buddy shot 79, the Birthday boy was on track to shot 73-75, but had to take a nap from hole 13-17. Lol. He woke up on 18 drove it 300, wedged it on to 14 feet and two putted for a par. Good times, would definitely play it again.
Pace of Play was only issue
Great Course with scenic views and challenging holes but they need a course ranger who monitors and enforces pace of play. Our foursome followed a threesome. They were obviously struggling and yet no one did anything about it. It took us 2.5 hours to play the front and after we passed them at the turn, we played the back in 1 hr 40 minutes. The worst thing was watching them drive the carts all the way up to the green every hole only for the cart to lock them out and they had to back up. We actually had to help one of them get their cart unstuck because they could not find the reverse switch. They still did not let us play through. Not what we would expect from Rio Secco.
Pretty Alright
I enjoyed the course for the golf. The views were beautiful. The homes around the course were absolutely stunning. I wish I had played better
We did have trouble with contacting the snack bar. We were advised they opened at 7am. Our tee time was 7:20. We had hoped that would be enough time to grab something quick to eat. They were not open before we needed to head to the tee. Then, when we tried to call the number to order food on the course, there was no answer. We called the pro shop to make sure we had the correct number. Called again. The phone just rang. We were informed the Snack bar shows that phone numbers come up as “out of area” on the caller I.D. Even the pro shop number comes up as “Out of Area”
The beverage showed up on hole 10. (After we had already stopped at the turn) and while we were on the 18th green(as we were finishing our round).
I will definitely be back to this course as the Golf experience was great.
Amazing Views & Fun Track
Not far outside the strip and a fantastic all around facility from Curb to 18th Green. Great pro shop, challenging holes, and all around great experience.
Slow play
First off upon arrival we were greeted at our car to get our clubs which was a nice touch. The clubhouse is beautiful and we enjoyed having lunch inside and the food was good. Then we headed into the pro shop to pay, everything was great at that point. We went to hit range balls, the balls they give you are in terrible shape, old worn out and look to be hit thousands of times. I would expect more for the money we paid. Then the starter sent us to the first tee. The course itself appears nice, it’s very tight and the bunkers are not in good shape. I was in the right fairway bunker off the first tee, mu ball was in mud in the middle of the bunker. I decided to clean it and tried to rake and place but I could not even scratch the sand, we’ll sand is generous as it was more like hard pan. After the first hole, we caught up to a group of 3 and we had 4 players. We proceeded to wait on them every shot for the remainder of the round. Not 1 time did a Marshall come around. It we miserable, you would think for $200 a round they could have a Marshall watching pace of play, especially with some of the elevation changes and difficult holes they have. Apparently after they collect your money they don’t care about you anymore. The group we waited on all day was at least 3 or 4 holes behind the group in front of them. Although the layout was beautiful, the bunkers are poorly kept and overall not enjoyable. I would not return . There are too many other places to play for example we played Pauite the day before, it’s a much better track and the have marshals on all 3 courses and it’s a much better experience and better run golf course. Extremely disappointed with Rio Secco, If not for Butch, this course would struggle at this price.
