TPC Las Vegas

About
TPC Las Vegas (formerly known as The Tournament Players Club at The Canyons) is Vegas' premier PGA Tour facility, making it a popular destination for professional players and casual golfers alike. The golf course enjoys a scenic backdrop provided by Red Rock Canyon, with views stretching past the surrounding mountains to the Las Vegas skyline. Lush greens contrast the rugged desert landscape of arroyos and barrancas. This challenging layout will test the shot-making skills of even the most seasoned players. The deceptively sloped greens can be difficult but the fairways are somewhat wide and give a little room for error. The back nine presents a particularly formidable test. It is difficult to pick out a signature hole, but the par-4 13th, nicknamed "Death Valley" is memorable for being one of the best risk-reward opportunities on the golf course.

Great experience !!!
What to say. TPC course ... Very tough and challenging, better have your "A" game with you or it will be a long day. Great course to play. Beautiful design, great views. Greens are very challenging but roll true. Definitely will recommend this course.
A long walk
Played under 'cart path only' restriction so we got our steps in. The greens were also punched (micro blades) so they didn't roll true. But the lushness of the greens really brightened the course. We played from the mid tees which made the round more enjoyable (glad we didn't play from the back tees on #3 as the tee shot requires a long carry over the junk). There were few mystery holes so we could've benefitted from playing with someone who is familiar with the layout. Overall a fun track and worth a re-visit. The staff from the proshop, starter, bartender... all professionals. Extremely helpful and friendly. Great experience.
Great course, expensive, cart-path only
I enjoy the course. There are beautiful mountain views, shots over canyons, target practice holes, long holes, doglegs, great variety. It is a good challenge with elevated greens, false fronts, difficult pin locations, and front greenside bunkers. The course is in a residential community and borders the expressway but doesn't feel like you're playing in others backyards.
The course was in outstanding condition post-overseed. Fairways and tee boxes were cut short. Rough was good length (1.0-1.5 inches). Sand was in bunkers, although not tour-quality and not plentiful. Greens were smooth even though you could tell they were punched a few weeks ago. The back 9 is the better 9, particularly holes 13-14 where canyons give you great challenges.
Every staff member was pleasant this time. There was someone present at bag drop, we checked in easily, and enjoyed the pro shop. (2) water bottles were provided, but there were stations with large cups before the first hole, as well as after hole 4 and hole 14. There is a snack shed with made-to-order sandwiches and $10 hot dogs at the turn.
The course was ~3 weeks post overseed but was still cart path only which was disappointing. The range was also mats only, and the mats were not in the best condition.
TPC seems to be marketing to the $300/round tourist crowd and doesn't want the local boomer hacks. They offer no memberships, no loyalty program. They restrict singles from playing unless another twosome or threesome plays. They do not price themselves competitively - they are nearly double what nearby public courses are priced, and 50% more than other resort-style courses in the area. TPC also runs on 9-minute tee time intervals now. The tee sheet was surprisingly empty for a Sunday afternoon.
We loved TPC Vegas
After reading a few bad reviews I didn't know what to expect. I found TPC to be a exciting layout in fantastic shape! We will gladly add this to our must plays next time in the area
Enjoyed the practice facility
All staff members were friendly and professional. I really enjoyed the practice facilities. The course was not burned up (currently in a heat wave) and was well maintained. My only issue was with the speeds of the greens being as slow as they were. For a $200 greens fee I was expecting better performance on the greens for a TPC course.
You won’t regret it!
I know Vegas is expensive but for $200 I’d come back in a heartbeat. Course was in phenomenal condition, just be prepared to lay up a bunch off the tee due to hazards and length of fairways (depending on what tees you play from, which I played the whites). It’s challenging and difficult in the right ways but not so much to where you’ll lose a dozen balls in the front 9 if you’re a mid handicapper like I am. Just go for it, you won’t regret it!
aeration
My problem was ... we were not notified in advance that aeration had taken place on Wednesday. we received at $30 discount at the counter.
I manage a golf course in Hawaii and i would be barbequed if i did aeration and didnt notify our clientel in advance. And we also give a 20 % discount
We enjoyed the course but gave a average rating because of the aeration
Great Golf Experience
1st class golf course and staff. Fair pricing and excellent conditions.
TPC Las Vegas Perfect day
The perfect day. 7:06 AM tee time weather was great with no clouds a slight breeze and mid 70's. Played with 2 members to help navigate course. We finished at 9:58 AM.
Every hole is great and great views of the surrounding mountains and some valley views. I could play this course several times a week every week. Now my favorite Las Vegas course. Course was in great shape, Poana 98% out of greens and they were running smooth and fast, especially in a certain direction (Member tip).
The cost of my round included a set of Titleist clubs with GT 3 driver, FW and Hybrid and T100 irons with Vokey SM 10 wedges and Cameron Super Select Fastback 1.5 34" putter - similar to my SS Del Mar. With the exception of the GT line, this was basically my set with different shafts. They have Callaway, TM, Mizuno and Cobra options as well.
Bring Your A Game
Beautiful course but treacherous from the blues or longer. Conditions were good, the greens had some issues but were rolling fast and true. The Taylor Made rentals were longer than I’m used to so I smoked it past a couple of greens. The front nine gets you all relaxed and happy but the back nine takes it all away. Are you up for the challenge?
Greens are in bad shape.
Putting greens are horrible for how much this course cost. The rest of the course is amazing.
