About
Whirlwind Golf Club features 36 holes across 242 acres. Wild horses and native beasts roam the landscape - so don't let them drag you away. While just 12 miles from the metropolis of Phoenix, Whirlwind Golf Club's Cattail Course takes golfers to a secluded and scenic environment, where desert tranquility and beauty is a silent playing partner throughout.
Gary Panks designed the courses at Whirlwind Golf Club. The par-72 Cattail measures 7,222 yards and beings on Arrow Shot, a par-4 413 yarder; the South Mountain Range's canyons will guide you, but shoot straight. Things get long on Two Mesquites, the second hole, a par-5 517 yarder, which does feature Mesquites, a staple for the Gila River Indian Community, used in construction, medicine and food.
Finish up on Last Hole, a par-4 450 yarder that offers a good test to close on, as it is the course's most demanding to drive.

Overpriced and poor management
Management never said anything or golf now about cart path only. Would have loved a caddy instead.
No ranger to be found and the pace of play was 3 hours per 9. I walked off after 8.
Overpriced and poor communication
8 days prior to LPGA Ford Championship
Always like to play a course just prior to the pros. Hospitality suites going up and lots of pre tournament prep activities and fun to predict where the pins, tees and fairway landing areas will be for the Ford!
Course in great condition and greens a little faster than normal but holding approach shots. Cart path only ( was expected just 8 days before the LPGA) so a little harder on this Sr’s knees . A few interruptions with construction of tournament infrastructure but crews were very aware and tolerant of players on the course.

Beautiful and well taken care of. Challenging enough to keep you going. We will be back to play!

The course was in great condition. Fast greens, beautiful fairways. Slow day though. We waited on every tee box.

This was a vey nice course to play. Pace of play was well monitored. The only detraction was ground work or some type of new development being work just outside of the course boundaries.
Ultimate Course
This course was amazing! Grounds well kept, beautiful views, staff friendly and inviting! Played 18 holes on Catail and a reply on Devils. I can not wait to watch the LPGA on the golf station!
Great layout and conditions. Slow foresome ahead of us for most of the front nine at least a hole behind. Ranger addressed the problem with the offenders and place of play improved dramatically. Very enjoyable day

Great course, first time played. Playing the other side on Saturday. Cattail will be tough to beat
