Whirlwind Golf Club - The Devil's Claw Course

Avocado green and pristine putting greens. Love this course. First class service. The Marshall on the course today should teach all others in the valley the professionalism one should have on a course. Loved every second of this round today.

Greens dry and fast, but course looks and plays great.

The staff was friendly and efficient. We teed off on time and finished in roughly 4 hours. The course was in superb condition. Fairways, tees an greens were all manicured. Greens were relatively fast and rolled true. Sand was well-kept; with no rakes, we occasionally took a free drop. In all, the experience was very good. Will definitely come back!

This course is outstanding. Greens, fairways, and tees were all in great shape. We are so glad we gave it a try. Hope to play the other side soon.

We do not get to play Devil's Claw very often because of the price, but found a great deal on GolfNow. The course was in excellent condition and even though we waited a few times we still finished in less than four hours.

The golf course is beautiful, in fantastic shape and fun to play. However, there were no rangers on the course, and the pace of play was horribly slow. As one example, On the 9th hole, there were three groups waiting on the tee box. We had delays on every hole. They need to enforce playing time. It turned what would have been an enjoyable round on a beautiful course into a painfully slow round of golf. With all the golf options available in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, it will be the first and last time my friends and I play this course.

Course is in great shape and practice facility is great. Unfortunately got stuck behind a tournament that was overly slow. Took over three hours to play the front 9 and no staff around to help control the pace.

Course is excellent and groomed beautifully. Staff were great and very helpful. Such things as GPS, windshields, coolers, and sand repair containers on carts were great amenities. All amenities on the course were in top working order, such as ball washers, drinking water stations, sand was appropriate consistency, and plenty of rakes. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Greens and fairways were in great shape. Fairways were tough enough yet forgiving enough when required.

Only negative is grill at clubhouse closes at about 5.

Would definitely recommend this course.

I have heard good things about Whirlwind and it did not disappoint. Here on vacation. This was our 5th round and Devils Claw was the best conditioned course thus far.. Challenging, but fair.

Having played this course several years before my memory of the layout was dim. The signage and the GPS were excellent ,as if you had a forecaddie to direct you. The greens were in excellent shape, very receptive and rolling true. Overall it was an excellent day to be alive!

Played Devils claw. Impressed with conditions and layout. Pace a bit slow at first but Marshall was on top of it later. Only minor complaint, cart service is lacking. No food , no Caesar drink spices, exhorbident charge for coffee and baileys. I know...first world problems!

Weather was great, condition of course was immaculate and we played 18 in 3 hours. Food at course excellent and affordable. Overall a perfect experience. Can't wait to play again.

Most golf experiences start when you pull up to the club house and unload your clubs. Usually you unload them yourself. At Whirlwind, you are greeted by a young man that immediately warms your heart for being there. Any business starts with who is the face or first representative you encounter.. this continues thru check in, your warm up facilities to on the course. The courses are always in prime condition and very enjoyable to play. As usual we have some scores to settle at the end of our round of golf, and the staff in their bar and grill is the best. For the money, Devils Claw is more than a five star golf course. Every golfer should make Whirlwind part of their golfing experience.

Both of these courses (Cattails and Devil's Claw) are outstanding layouts. Miss the fairway, pay the price! Don't go looking for your ball because there are snakes out there! Great desert tract, kept in great shape most of the year 'round. The staff is always helpful. The practice facilities (putting green is huge and range is good) are good. The grill/restaurant is a hidden gem with outstanding food (go for the Philly sandwich - on a pretzel roll - yummy!).

We played through a good rain storm, but other than that it was perfect. Great layout and conditions, greens rolled true, and staff were good. This is a must play course.
