About
Devil's Claw is one of two golf courses at Whirlwind G.C., part of the Wild Horse Pass Resort and Casino on the Gila River Indian Reservation near Chandler. In addition to its views of four mountain ranges -- South Mountain, the Estrella Mountains, the San Tan Mountains and the Superstitions -- Devil's Claw overflows with Native American culture.
A round on the Devil's Claw at Whirlwind Golf Club begins on Greasy Mountain, a par-4 424-yarder that faces Muh-wah Ha-dahk - the Gila River Indian Community's name for South Mountain. Things get long on the fifth, Maricopa Journey, a par-5 593-yarder designed to memorialize the travels of the Pee-Posh (or Maricopa tribe) from the Colorado River to where the Gila and Salt rivers meet. Go home via Going Home, the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 442 yards from the Black tees. As the Gila River Indian Community sings it, "Our songs are ending as you go your separate ways, take along with you the good songs that were sung here today, as within your hearts."
Don't go straight home: You can still fit in another song after golfing the Devil's Claw golf course at the Whirlwind Golf Club in the clubhouse, which features a fully stocked bar and plenty of plasma televisions for relaxing and catching up on other sports.

Love the course!
Very fair, forgiving course. Pace was good, condition was great, we had a great day.
Descent Course
Only a handful of memorable holes, conditions were above average and worth a play if under $100.
Word of advice, if booking as a single it’s a royal pain in the butt. Whirlwind doesn’t book singles, so you need to call GolfNow (40 mins of wasted time) just to get one of their tier 2 people try to call the pro shop and secure a time. This is the worst setup I’ve ever come across. GolfNow should be ashamed and as a single player it sucks cause I’d probably play more often but it’s now worth the hassle.

Great Course and excellent staff
The 2.5 hour frost-delay was a little disappointing, but understandable this time of year. Once we got started, the tee boxes were excellent, the fairways were clearly marked and in beautiful shape, and the greens were well maintained. The staff was excellent and I will play this course again.
The only reason I added a review is that the starters and staff were so friendly. Normally, it seems like starters are required to be crabby old men. The gentlemen to whom we spoke were so nice and welcoming. We had a great time and would definitely go back.
