The Classic Club
About
On the Classic Club's scenic landscape, golfers will find a wide variety of trees including olive trees, towering pines, and California pepper, but unlike the many other golf courses in Palm Springs, there isn't a single palm tree. The Classic Club opened in 2006 to much acclaim and has since garnered a following amongst locals and visitors. Formerly a host site for the Bob Hope Classic, the challenging layout has an interesting mix of tour-worthy holes including intimidating par 3s balanced by reachable par-5s and short par-4s. Water hazards come into play on 13 holes. The back nine begins with a memorable stretch of holes. The par-4 10th is a tight driving hole with an elevated green and the 11th hole requires a shot over water. The stretch ends with the par-3 12th, which also plays over water to a well protected green.

Jewel in Palm Springs area
Stunning course, full of details like all Troon courses. Difficult but fun and in perfect shape
Great weather + Great course = GREAT DAY. Will be back.
Fantastic experience
Congratulations you have the nicest golf course and facilities in the valley. First class all the way.
Palm Springs golf trip
Great green complexes, great staff, beautiful and enjoyable layout different from most Desert Courses, pace of play fair but seems to be par for most courses with public access. I would recommend to anyone and is worth the Drive.
Jewel
Difficult but stunning course that demands good golf to put on a good score. Play true and in perfect shape
Absolutely worth every penny
In my top 10 of Public courses I have ever played. Conditions were just amazing and the staff and maintenance crews were very welcoming and friendly. Worth every SINGLE penny!
No good for your ego
This course is too hard for average vacation golfers. You shoul have a handicap of less than 10 to enjoy this course.
Value & quality
Course was in top shape Great true rolling greens 11-12 stimp. 7300 yd from tips fair but real challenge especially once the afternoon wind picked up a bit. Even came with a $15 food voucher which covered lunch tab except for beer and tip!
Spectacular Day Of Golf!
This course is impressive and in immaculate condition. Incredible views. It is worth the green fees. Challenging with water hazards and bunkers but still fun. Customer service is exceptional. We will definitely be back - our new favorite in the desert!
Pristine Course!
Quite possibly the best course conditions on the Coachella Valley! Not an easy tract; however; fairways are very "fair"!! Staff was kind, friendly and the lunch vouchers were awesome, great place!
Good course BAD experience
First off I will start by saying the drive into the course and the first impression is great. As you walk down to the check in area the views and quality of the practice facility at top notch and the environment is beautiful. As expected for the green fee and reputation behind this place. I played at 7:20 am on a Sunday and it was a perfect morning with no wind.
POSITIVES - Layout of course is amazing and the design is terrific and poses a great challenge as it’s a long course from the Black tees. If you want a test, play the blacks, conditions were good, greens were a little slower than anticipated, few brown and ugly spots in fairways but overall course is great shape as it played very well. It gets a lot of play so greens have some old ball marks not fixed properly.(not courses fault), facility and practice balls were nice. Nice carts with great GPS. I would say the value for green fee is fair at $175.
NEGATIVES - where my day was bad and turned for me was my initial impression and interaction. I called 1 day before my tee time with a couple questions, I was NOT informed at any point, that I was going to be playing behind a flighted AM tour tournament, mid-morning shotgun. I asked as well if the course could be walked, I was told, NO it’s a very hard long gruelling walk. I said I would like to, but is the hard part distance between tee boxes? I was told yes. I said well if pace of play is the concern, I will take a cart. I asked, is pace a concern if I walk? I was told yes. This leads into my problem for the day.
We were the third time out of the day, which turned into the first time out due to cancellations. We played as a threesome and were told by the starter that we are going to be behind a tournament today but we won’t catch them until the back 9. We caught them on the 6th hole and then waited for 15 minutes every shot after that. I found it funny that walking was the concern at check in for pace of play and not ensuring the tournament kept pace of play. I ended up leaving after 9 holes because the pace was so bad, it took us an hour and 10 minutes to play 3 holes. I was able to get 9 holes refunded after pushing pretty hard, but was told we were right on pace so there wasn’t much they could do. It was because we played the first 6 holes in less than an hour is the only reason we were on pace.
My concern is, if you have an AM tournament, it should be on your website before you book or if a shot gun is happening it should be morning or afternoon and posted when booking tee times. If I’m playing at 7:20. I don’t want a 4.5 hour round. I would play in the afternoon if that was the case.
For $175 I feel the course is worth it if you are playing golf in that price range. I just don’t like the lack of info on the site prior to booking. I want to know if there is a walking rate and if I am going to be stuck behind a shotgun tournament when I thought I could have a calm smooth round.
I would recommend this course as it’s a great test and an extraordinary layout. Sand in bunkers is really nice.
The chicken Caesar wrap is also amazing at the half way house.
I feel there are better courses for their value near by, but this is a great course that poses a strong test. Shadow Ridge would be the course I would look at 10 times over before I come back here. Better practice facility and much better green fee and a better course and conditions. I will NOT return to the course because of my experience here and $175 is too much to spend when I can nearly get two rounds at better courses.
Always a treat
The course is always in perfect shape. The greens were immaculate, staff is great and today were blessed with no wind, big bonus! I’ve been lucky enough to play this course half a dozen times and it never disappoints.
Would highly recommend to come play it
Disappointed
Usually I leave a 5 star review for Classis Club. This time was diffeRent.
Had to be somewhere for a meeting. Booked the first tee time. Paid premium to get it. Got to the first tee, and the starter informed me there was a shotgun tournament going out. He indicated they would not be a concern, as we would not ever see them.
Last group in the shotgun tees off on hole 6. We caught them on hole 7.
Long waits on every tee box after that.
Would have been noice to know about the tournament when I reserved the time.
Would have made other decisions.
