Balfron Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course that was recreated from its original layout by respected Scottish golf architect Robin Hiseman. The new nine-hole golf course was opened in 1994, and it was extended to 18 holes 7 years later.

The Baltron golf course is located six miles from Loch Lomond and 20 miles north of Glasgow. There are inspiring views of the local countryside, eerily reminiscent of playing golf in the Scottish highlands.

Beautiful

Great course in fantastic condition. Lovely location and scenery makes it special. Challenging greens with bounce and slopes. Rough is very high so accuracy important! Tough playing for the first time as a few blind tee shots and hidden ditches. Only drawback was pace of play; very slow surrounded by 4 ball society playing on my own so would ask before booking next time. All in all would highly recommend.

Spectacular

My personal opinion is that the course itself is the best course I've ever played on condition wise. It actually looks like it's been put where it is and never been played. The greens are immaculate, fairways immaculate, tee boxes immaculate!

Now to mention the location! Never have I played a round on better settings than this. Literally 360 degrees of hills and mountains visible from numerous areas on the course. Was simply outstanding.

Where I've deducted stars is because although I'm aware it's a golf society and expected the amenities to be limited, there was No1 there when I started my round or ended it. Didn't have access to buy soft drinks or use a toilet!! Plenty greenkeepers out on the course doing their jobs but No1 to let me in the clubhouse. So if you're gonna go take drinks with you just incase. I would still 100% recommend people play the course I'd say you'd be hard pushed for a better kept, better looking course in the surroundings that it's in.

Nice course. Great condition all over. Forgiving all round some stray shots can be saved keeping the score down. In the long grass don't even consider looking it's lost.

Amazing sencery

Lovely course, greens are brilliant and can be challenging, some blind tee shots so you have to be careful not to drive into the water so some tee shots you most lay up.

Must play!!

Played this course with my brother today and it was superb. Greens are good conditions, albeit slightly tricky. Overall though the course is quite unforgiving so ideal for beginners. Staff were great too, the Pro was helpful giving us tips on what club's to hit at certain holes.. and the course ranger bringing out bottles of water with it being 20 odd degrees. And best the all the scenary is excellent.. thinks it's on the 12th green you a 360 view of all the mountains round about.

Great day out

This is a cracking course set in stunning scenery. We played in perfect conditions and there are some challenging holes but the majority are ideal for players of all standards. Some blind shots so knowledge of where the burns and bunkers lie is helpful but handy hole displays on each tee. Also we'll signposted as some tees require leaving bag and walking back. Fairways by and large are generous and as such anything really wayward encounters some brutal rough which is fair. The greens were really good for this time of year as we're the bunkers (I found a few) with generous soft sand..All in all a great course and a decent price.

I’m sorry....

I am ashamed to admit this was my first visit to this course despite living 20 minutes away.

Hard as it is for me to take I’m clearly a golf snob.

This is a must visit. Great golf without the baggage of golf!!!
