Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University
About
Lonnie Poole Golf Course at N.C. State University was designed by Arnold Palmer with the help of N.C. State graduates Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson. It's home to the university's men's and women's golf teams but it's open to the public as well. It's a favorite among locals who claim it's one of the toughest golf courses in the Triangle. The course sprawls across more than 200 acres on the southernmost portion of Centennial Campus, a location that is easily accessible from I-40 and offers scenic views of the Raleigh skyline. The greens can be difficult to read and they are often framed by rough
areas and strategically placed bunkers that make them even trickier. It's an especially tough golf course to play on windy days. Lonnie Poole G.C. is a beast from the black tees but the shorter tees make it accessible for high handicappers.

Course was in top shape
Fairways and green were pristine. Other than the heat it was a perfect golf day.

Super slow
Course layout and condition is not bad at all. Greens are bent grass and obviously stressed during this time of year due to heat. The pace of play was horrible today, 4:48 minutes for 18 holes. Just took away from all this is good here.
Hello. Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and to best control pace allowing everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve, and we are glad to see you rated the course conditions to be great during your game. Thank you for playing Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University. We hope to see you again soon.
Great track
Just a great track to play. Challenging but fair. Bunkers could use some work, kinda crusty in some. Greens are in good shape for bent in the summer. Worth playing year round.

Cold water.
No ice anywhere on golf course. We never saw a beverage cart during the round. There are two cold water stations on the course. The temperature was in the mid 90’s and high humidity. This is the only complaint about the round.

Lonnie Poole Course Review
The course was a very well kept and beautiful course. It was somewhat challenging. By Somewhat I mean there are a few really tough holes that can eat you up if you do not hit to the right zone. Having good driver here is key to set up second shot. The Par 3's are very short compared to some courses I played but manageable. Key to this course is being good out of the sand and having confidence in that area.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had a 5 star visit, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University.
