About
Lonnie Poole Golf Course at N.C. State University was designed by Arnold Palmer with the help of N.C. State graduates Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson. It's home to the university's men's and women's golf teams but it's open to the public as well. It's a favorite among locals who claim it's one of the toughest golf courses in the Triangle. The course sprawls across more than 200 acres on the southernmost portion of Centennial Campus, a location that is easily accessible from I-40 and offers scenic views of the Raleigh skyline. The greens can be difficult to read and they are often framed by rough
areas and strategically placed bunkers that make them even trickier. It's an especially tough golf course to play on windy days. Lonnie Poole G.C. is a beast from the black tees but the shorter tees make it accessible for high handicappers.

Beat the rain
Calling for chances of thunderstorms, but we decided to risk it. Played in 3 hours with great conditions because the chance of storms kept everyone away. Greens were aerated a week ago, but they still rolled pretty good. The only thing I would have the course do is have a few more signs directing you to the next hole because it can be a little confusing at times.

Aeration Recovery
Need I say any more, however I still made quite a few putts. Love this track it is still wet in front of greens so no bumping into the greens. Plenty of good firm sand in bunkers. Give it a few weeks to get the real course back in shape.

My new favorite course!
Just got brand new carts. Course was in great shape but still drying out from all the rain weeks before so was cart path only. Loved the layout. Very challenging. Again, new favorite course in Raleigh.
