Value based golf
Very nice practice facility, adequately equipped pro shop, very good grill are the highlights.
This course winds through a neighborhood of homes that are too close to the course which become a distraction on several holes due to dogs, children, and even a chicken coop making a pretty fair amount of noise which may sound a bit too critical but compared to other golf in the area it is what it is; distracting.
Not walkable from what I can see as the green to tee distances are so far.
Turf wise, the course is best described as sparse, they simply need more grass everywhere. Turf was very thin, very wet, and not very abundant.
Greens were fair but also very sparse so putts wavered on their line as they tracked toward the hole locations.
Bunkers were placed nicely, and filled with the right levels of sand (not too much, not too little).
Course layout was average, a few blind shots, length was average. I played form the tips so I got to use some of my longer clubs which I enjoy. The 225 yd par 3 8th is a beast, hit it perfect or you are reloading. 9 is a nice finishing hole as is 18.
Doubt I'd play it again. I'd much rather play the other Brown Golf owned facilities; Eagles Pointe or the Crescent in their network. There are much better tracks in the area that are similarly priced so my return is unlikely and I frequent the HHI area regularly.
First time playing course
Pace of play on a week day was 4 hours 15 minutes. Course condition was showing what many courses out there are and that is lack of investment in maintanance. Times are tuff for golf and this course is showing it. Nice layout but poorly maintained.
good value, nice course, not far off islnd
very good course; great value via Golfnow; greens & fairways consistent/great shape. played early afternoon, great pace & we saw nobody til halfway through back nine. worth the drive off the Island.
Nice course-good value
Played on a Sunday, late November. Even though it is a Public course, and a Sunday, the pace of play was decent. I believe we made it in 4 hrs. Course is in really nice condition. The only negative was that the speed of the practice green was much faster than any of the greens on the course. There was a significant difference in speed on the course holes. Definitely a good course to play. Really nice practice facility too.
Good conditions
Good pace of play and frienday staff. Course was in good condition
Nice layout - great challenge
Loved this course. Makes you play smart and use all of the clubs in your bag. Course is in excellent shape. Staff was great. Outstanding practice facilities and a good value.
Aggressive Play
Our foursome was followed by a pack of a dozen golfers playing one golfer per cart. They repeatedly drove into our foursome. Pace of play was 18 holes 4 hrs 15 minutes. We do not need a course where there is no respect for others.
We have heard that this course is where would be golf professionals are in training. If these were pros in training the training is failing the profession.
Will not be back!
Great course
Overall the course was great. The only reason the pace of play has a bad rating for me is because I was stuck behind 2 large groups that would not let me play through. I was playing good golf by myself, but I wasn't in any hurry.
Unfriendly pro shop!
A down her from the start! It's as if they didn't want my business, need I say more!!n
Something for everybody
Liked so much we are playing it again. It was a fair challenge....Had a lot of different looks
Terrific Value
Had never played the course before but what a nice course. Booked through Golf Now and it was well worth the time. BeUtiful courae in great shape. Surprises by the beauty of the course despite being the focal point of the homes that surround it. Would go back in a heart beat. Only one complaint (and it's minor), there is no course layout on the card or the tee boxes to give you the layout. For a first time player like our party, it was a drawback.
Pleasantly surprised
I played this course for the first time and really enjoyed the layout and challenge. I played the white tees and it was all I could handle, allowing use of all clubs in the bag. Fairways were a bit rough and there was still some sloppiness from rain 3 days earlier. Greens were fast but fair, they were also very large. This course gets a lot of use, as it is part of a junior Hank Haney school. But the facilities were excellent and course in pretty good condition. Play was a bit slow. I especially liked the layout of 9 and 18 as they run parallel on opposite sides of a pond. And #15 is a unique layout that entices you off the tee. This course is a good value and worth the drive if you are vacationing on Hilton Head (as I was).
Great condition
Pinecrest is a wonderful course. Well maintained and with some challenging holes.
Pleasant experience
Would play it again....played early, and 18 holes in 3 hrs.
Very good value and course
Staff excellent . . Friendly and helpful. Excellent value for the product. Weather was hot (80's) and no breezes but really enjoyed the experience. Lots of water, sand, wide fairways . . . Round took about 4.5 hrs but back nine was the holdup. Surprised they allow singles on a fairly busy day. Would definitely play again.
This course has a beautiful setting.
I love golf now always takes care of me and I get good rates. I love this course it is some what challaging and I love hole 5, the roosters always crow.
Good value
Had a great round! I went as a single and just as my bag is being put on the cart, a member asked if I was a single and if I'd like to join him and his playing partner. I had a very enjoyable round and am considering becoming a member. Very friendly group, great service all around!
Great Layout
Everything is right in front of you with the exception of one hole. Course layout on the scorecard would be nice for first timers and vacationers. However, no complaints and good value for the price.
I keep coming back
Probably 4th or 5th time at Pinecrest. Great rates through GolfNow and also through Brown Group affiliation with the HOA where we have our villa. Staff courteous, friendly, attentive...Was a twosome that went off at 1:56 and never caught up with anyone until maybe #8, and those groups did not play the back so we had clear sailing. Staff member got to us on 16 to let us know of pending severe weather, which was nice of them, so we did not play the 18th. Course was in pretty good shape, but greens were a little bumpy and didn't take the breaks the way we read them, but that's probably our fault. Did not eat, so can't rate the food, but the beer was cold...maybe that's why we misread the greens!
Scruffy Tees
At the end of a long hot summer the course showed signs of being "beaten up".
The tees were in very poor condition, the greens were ok,but very slow.
The cart path to the 10th tee is dreadful and should be fixed.
