With an excellent location surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains to one side and overlooking Georgia's Great Lake on the other, Lanier Islands Legacy Golf Course provides the perfect setting for a round of golf. The diverse, rolling landscape ranges from dense forest to open meadows to pristine beaches. Water has a strong presence throughout the golf course, coming into play on 12 holes. Many of them play right along the lake's shoreline. At 6,580 yards, the course is not particularly long but it is still a formidable challenge for long hitters since it requires quite a few demanding carries over the water. One of the most memorable holes for this reason is the par-4 12th, which presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity if you dare to cut the corner.

Punched greens still recovering and slow pace, but still a good time

The greens were aerated a couple of weeks ago and are only 50-60% healed. Biggest complaint was pace of play: we played as a twosome, and were stuck behind 2 separate foursomes. The leading foursome had the course wide open ahead of them but were playing at a snails pace. I understand it’s a resort course but it completely killed round tempo to be sitting for 5 minutes between shots.

What could be better ?

This course is super nice, everyone is as nice as they could be. The amenities are great and the place runs like a Swiss watch. If you want to know what it feels like to play at your home country club then try this out. A beautiful blend of the lake and golf. If you’re looking at price, it may be more than some in the area, but you owe it to yourself to try it at least once. Well worth the price. We will be back soon.

This course wraps around the lake and is amazing. Must play I live in Fl so great elevation changes

Amazing Day Amazing Course

First off the staff is incredible from them meeting you in the parking lot to get your bag, to the friendliness of the golf shop and the amazing starters that are willing to work with you to give you the best experience (thank you Tony). Now on to the course, the fairways are in spectacular shape and they are growing the rough to add to the difficulty; the greens are great and roll true but can be tricky; tee boxes for the most part are in good shape and they are trying to fix them where there are problems. Lastly the views are fantastic and the course is difficult.

Lanier is one of the best courses in the state, it’s expensive but worth the splurge. Enjoy
