Eastwood
Good value. Course conditions were fair, but rain and time of year are factors.
Awesome layout
The course plays longer than posted because they don't have very good drainage. No roll in the fairway but the greens hold well. It is an older public course but they maintain the greens VERY well. The staff was very friendly and they let me replay for $20. If you can't get a tee time at a course nearby...this one will not disappoint.
Always fun but course needs some work
Played this course on a Sunday with a threesome and they let a single player in front of us. He was extremely slow and hit multiple balls as if he was playing a practice round. Course was busy that day. Management and starter should not have let him out.
greens
Course should have stated that greens were being patched or sanded
Good Value for Money, Plays Long
The course plays pretty long, even from the Ladies tees. I think for the money, this course is a decent value, but the course conditions were average, greens were not in the best shape. But honestly, the price was right. I think because they run a ton of specials the course is usually pretty busy during peak hours, so if you're new to the game or not a low-handicapper, I would wait until off-peak to play.
The course doesn't drain well
Very soggy conditions. Lots of mud on the golf balls. This course gets a lot of play and I've never found it to be in good condition. Challenging layout, especially Hole #10.
Doglegs
This course is full of doglegs. If you cant hit a proper cut or draw, you will find yourself laying up quite a bit. Overall condition was alright, but nothing great.
They really let this course go down the tubes
I almost never write a review but I have to say the course conditions were borderline atrocious and it seems what was once a good course for the money is not worth playing as the muni courses are cheaper and in better conditions. The greens were extremely sandy even though it wasn't being aerated and the tee boxes are in dire need if a On my way! as it seems like your teeing off the rough.
nice course
With many local courses unable to maintain "golf course" conditions and having many "cow pasture" spots it was nice to play a course that was well maintained. I personally hate the long rough and furry greens caused by winter rye grass but I guess that is the way it is. I find greens don't seem to roll true with the rye, speeds change and slope curves are very hard to read.
This course is well worth the drive and is a mix of houses and woods/swamp areas. The fairways are wide and the tee positions range from very difficult to somewhat makeable.
staff was the worst
I found the pro shop attendant in the bar, and she acted like i was interrupting her for having her do her job. The coarse needed attention badly, the tea boxes and fairways were long and the rough was mostly dead. The thing that bothered me the most was I only payed $21-22 to play and to have my girlfriend ride with me, not even playing at all they wanted $30 a "cart fee". needless to say i will not be going back to EastWood any time soon.
Course needs maintenance attention.
Normally a great experience at Eastwood but this last time the course was not in that great of shape. Tee boxes needed to be mowed, the fairway grass was longer than the grass in the rough if you could call the rough grass.
Great Greens!
Nice course, with plenty of landing area in the fairways. A couple of 'gimicky' 90 degree dog-leg holes, but overall a fine course.
Nice course
This is a relatively easy course with the exception of a few holes that with an errant shot can really wreck your score.
This course needs work..
Let's start with the positives, the greens were in pretty good condition. OK, that's it for the positives.
Now, the challenges. The fairways and rough are basically like cow pastures, lots of crab grass and just not taken care of. Lot's of crabgrass on several of the greens also.
The staff at the club house is "who cares". The maintenance staff would pull in front of golfers all throughout the round and you have to wait for them (not wave you through or wait for you like on a class course). One hole they ran over my wife's golf ball with the cutters and knew where the ball was (or they were blind). When they mow (totally in front of golfers during the middle of the day), the cuts are very uneven so you have high and low spots all over the fairways and roughs, like I said, cow pastures.
The layout if difficult, bring lots of balls. Lots of sand and water, and the back tees are totally challenging. Off the fairway, much like a the everglades, the ball is gone, forget it.
The cart was on it's last leg, but it did make 18 holes. The ride was really rough since in was worn out.
I am a mid handicapper, it wasn't the difficulty, but the lack of attention to the fairways and rough and staff that would keep me from playing here again. I've been told there are about 125 golf courses in the Orlando area, I'd rate this one in the lower 25 of that group. I WILL not return.
Sadly negleted
Played this course a number of years ago when there were no residences and it was a lovely layout.
With the neighborhoods now completely developed, one would have expected the golf facilities to be heavily supported ($$$$), but virtually everything about it suggests it is in serious decline. Not even worth the heavily discounted rate you offer.
We would not go back!
Range too pricey
There's nothing at all special about the range (NO stands for bag rest, NO place to sit) yet the pro shop still charged me $11.00 for ONE bucket of balls. Windermere CC has a pristine range yet only charges $5.00 for the same amount of balls. I felt ripped off.
Front 9 fairways were really shaggy and grass mounds all over the place
Front 9 fairways were shaggy with mounds of grass everywhere, not the case on the back 9. So they knew about the issue. At the turn I went into the Pro shop, assuming the back 9 was in the same condition asking what the story was, got immediate attitude and walked away from me. Like Eastwood lay out, will not be seeing my group for a long while!
Management issue with customer care with this group of course, experienced the same thing at NorthShore
Ok but not great
Greens were in decent shape which is the most crucial thing but rest of course could use some work. Sunday afternoon course was pretty empty. I played as a single and played in 2 hours so that was nice. Challenging layout just needs some TLC.
Deplorable course conditions.
I have rarely encountered such poor conditions of this golf course. Dirt, weeds, ant beds on tee boxes, grass in bunkers, etc. This course is being totally neglected.
