The course needed work
My experience with this course has shown that it does not drain well. The course has not changed. Machinery used to maintain it probably caused the tire indentations all over the course.
Horrible condition
I've been playing this course for 10 years and have never seen it in this bad of condition. My advice would be to stay out of east orlando. The courses are going the same direction as the neighborhoods...downhill.
Golf course under water.
Greens were in good shape, the golf course itself is nearly under water. I wouldn't play this course again until it drys out.
Course needs extensive work
Although the price for this course was on $19 through Golfnow, the course rate is actually $40 at this time. The staff was at least nice enough to suggest Golfnow for better rates. I'm not sure I quite understand that but at least they didn't try to rip us off. This course is borderline unplayable. The vast majority of bunkers were filled with stagnant water (Sand Hill Cranes were sitting in them eating tadpoles!). Fire ant mounds are everywhere. Greens were ok at best. Hole #10 had brown fairways but green rough??? It was also evident maintenance is nonexistent even by the general landscape. Weeds everywhere and half dead shrubbery. This course is not even worth the $19 in my honest opinion and I won't be going back unless they put some effort into saving this course.
Gone down hill
This course has always been one of my favorites. Now it resembles more of a goat ranch than a golf course. Not one bunker had appeared to be raked and the only hole that really looked maintained was the #9. The one you see when you walk up. Truly dissappointed. Regretfully not worth the $20 that I paid.
This golf course was extremely challenging and worth the time in the heat
and would give anybody a run for their mo there was a dog leg lef and dog le and dog leg rights very long pa very long par 3's and par and par 4's disc golf cou disc golf course I would recommend to anybody who would love to better their game
greens were great but everything else needed some work
I recently played this course for the first time a few days ago. The greens were in great condition and rolled very well. however, the rest of the course was in not so great of shape. the fairways were and very soggy and overgrown as it appeared they had not been cut in a while. i want to blame most of that on the large amount of rain that this area has been receiving. there was a nice mix of scoring holes and difficult holes which made the course overall a fun experience for trying out a new course.
Muck everywhere, needs mowing badly!
The course was swampy from the beginning. Back nine needed serious attention with a lawn mower, likely due to how wet the entire course is. It is probably too wet to mow. Fortunately my rate was only $19.99 per person. However, even this was slightly too much to pay for the experience. The course has a nice layout and it really is a shame that it isn't maintained a little better. Many courses in the area have gotten the same weather and are in much better conditions. Hoping EastWood decides to take a little better care and gets this course back in shape, even though this could almost require shutting it down for a few weeks to work.
Save you money, go anywhere else
I've played Eastwood a few times over the years and it is now apparent that they do not care about the course. I played yesterday 8/4/13 and the curse was in the worst shape I've ever seen. The entire course was muddy, including tee boxes and fairways, and not just a little muddy balls were sinking in the fairway muddy. Sand traps were terrible, full of weeds and puddles, big puddles, so we were playing double hazards(water traps in side sand). No cart girl on a Sunday before noon also makes me wonder if they're even trying to make money. Bottom line save your money and go elsewhere because this course is BAD!
Very sad as the course has gone downhill, poorly maintained
I have been playing Eastwood for 20 years and it has always been one of my favorite tracts and in pristine condition. The maintenance has been decent over the past few years, but this past month it has really been ignored and gotten bad with active chinch bug damage, fire ants, weeds, poorly cut, traps are full of weeds, awful....But, the fairways are pretty good and the greens are very good/excellent. So, I just focus on hitting fairways and greens, which I am pretty good at, so I still like playing the course. I am truly saddened to see the course go through such maintenance neglect but hopeful it will get fixed soon..
Beware Regulars Complaining of Slow Play
Played early Saturday morning. A marshal interrupted my twosome at hole 5 because we were causing a slowdown (we weren't). The marshal told us that since the people behind us were regulars that we should hurry up or we may have to let them pass. He was nice about it. We finished the round in 3 and a half hours and did not change our pace of play. No one was in sight behind us after hole 7. That altercation was kind of irritating.
Course conditions were good, although they do need some tlc on a few of the sandtraps. There is grass growing in several of them, and rocks in others. Greens were nice. Fairways were soggy in just a few spots but that will go away when the rainy season is over. Probably need to have a cart path only policy more often during this time of year.
NO cart providing beverages to patrons on the course. This is bizarre to me. I would gladly shell out $$$ for refreshments and snacks. Water coolers are finally back, but there aren't enough of them.
In good shape
This course was in good shape because course condition was improved recently.
THe course is in horrible condition
The course has not been maintained. The rough and areas around the greens were unkept and the bunkers have not been raked or maintained in many months.
Fairway good but the 2nd cut are too hight.
Nice well maintain golf course, draining excellent , very little standing water on the fairway, will play any time.
Sand traps need help
I've been to this course over 8 times. Usually the fairways and greens are great. The bunkers are always in bad shape though. They collect and hold water like crazy. Since its Florida, this is especially bad.
This past time I golfed there the course was absolutely terrible. Big clusters of overgrown weeds and every tee box was brown and overgrown. This might be an unfair assessment though. They were doing a lot of work while I played (also angered me off a bit but I understood why they were doing it). Every shot I took, I was worried about killing a worker or two. Nobody can play well with two tractors riding around at the distance you're aiming for.
One last note, the driving range doesn't have distances listed for the markers. So if you're figuring out a new club, that's not where you want to go.
For now, I'd say take your money to stoneybrook or North shore golf course.
Nice place to play at a good price.
Staff was very friendly. The place looks good and the price was just right. I'll will go back to play at this golf course.
Long holes
Nice course. When we played it had been raining for days and the course was very muddy. For some reason it was not cart paths only and there were tire tracks all over the fairways. The holes are fair but challenging. Intermediate tees would be nice. You either had 6550 yards or 5850 yards, too long and then too short for most of us. Staff was friendly.
Greens are in great shape
considering the weather conditions recently, this golf course is in fine shape. The greens roll great. There is a few wet areas but overall the fairways are dry and firm. I love this course. Always have since it opened years ago.
Course needed attention and some drainage!
I have always heard about how great the greens were here. Too bad we had to play through soaked muddy fairways to get there!
The grass hadn't been cut in a week or two, so tee boxes and rough were overgrown. The sand traps were so full of standing water that they had algae and bugs growing in them. Course obviously needs better drainage as other courses in area have none of these issues.
Course has never been in worse shape...
I have lived in the area and played Eastwood for at least 15 years. I do not remember a itme when the course looked worse than my round yesterday. The rain certainly has had something to do witht that, but it does not excuse the weeds growing all over the place in the sand traps or the shabby overall appearance these days.
Spend a few more bucks and head to another nearby course., at least until they improve out at Eastwood.
