Tough test, particularly the first 9

I’m a mid handicapper who was impressed by the course condition, well presented and well kept. A tough test particularly the front 9, very undulating and a few side slops that had the bag off the trolley a few times. A really good test of how good your game is. Quite a few blind tee shots at marker posts, so for first timers it can be difficult.

Great course

Second time we have play at Beamish and again had a great time. A few ups and downs on course which got my lungs going. Chap in the club shop was great to, very helpful. Definitely play at Beamish again.

Really good value for money later in the day.

Sensational

Simply stunning second time playing and it's ashame it's 35 mile from me as I'd be a member in a second. The set out is amazing some of the holes are stunning condition was excellent no temp greens this time, a tough course if you're not on your game. 17th course I've played in NE this year and I'd say it's pushing top 3 with brancepeth castle, longhirst hall and Whitley bay. A truly picturesque track very very hilly and every hole presents a different challenge I scored 84 and thought I played like a prime tiger woods, I play off 9

Great fun

We thoroughly enjoyed our round today. Very friendly staff and other players. Course was quite challenging as it was damp after all the rain. We look forward to playing again.

Afternoon golf at Beamish.

Very pleasant afternoon golf at Beamish all for £15 green fee if you book after 16:00hrs. Course in very good condition and the review would have easily been 5 stars but for a simple course maintenance issue with intermediate rough that had been left slightly to long & thick to the detriment of course playability - our group and the group in front of us both lost a few balls just off the fairway and it was difficult to get any wood or long iron shots away - on a couple of occasions the only option was hacking out with a utility iron which seems like a harsh penalty for running slightly off the fairway - hopefully this was just an unfortunate issue on the day perhaps due to error setting the grass cutter.

Lovely layout and views

Nice course with plenty of holes presenting a good challenge without being overly long. Course is well maintained and very tidy. A little disappointed with quality of the greens which may just be a hangover from the awful winter. Would still recommend and will definitely return.

BPGC at it's very best

After a difficult winter / spring period the course is now at it's very best - greens in particular are running very consistently - general condition of the course is a credit to all of those involved in it's upkeep. The mature woodland lined 15th must rate somewhere in the top 10 holes in the UK and was simply stunning to behold during our visit. Our group all agreed that Beamish is probably the best presented course that we have played so far during 2024 and all for a Friday afternoon green fee of £15 which simply makes other courses appear heavily overpriced in comparison. Thoroughly recommended with the only caveat being that the course is quite hilly which might be a problem for some with mobility issues.

Lovely course - very busy

Lovely course in great condition. Tee boxes, fairways and greens all top notch. A range of interesting and challenging holes. The 15th is a fantastic hole - added to my list of favourites in the NE England. Everyone on the course very welcoming and friendly. I was warned in the pro shop that the course was busy and that round would be slow. Indeed it was - nearly 4 and a half hours. Resigned myself to the time and to be honest didn’t really detract from what was a lovely afternoon. The 4 in front and the 4 behind took the slow play in good grace and we all had a bit of a laugh about it at points where we stacked. Certainly play this course again - maybe not on a Saturday afternoon.

Beautiful Course

Course is hilly (the 18th is a real uphill slog) but is tremendous setting. Fairways generous which is important for a high handicapper like myself. Lovely variety of holes especially the 4th 15th and 16th. Greens in tremendous condition. Thoroughly recommend.

Picturesque course, a bit hilly.

Played here on a nice sunny day which makes a change after the summer we haven't had! Arrived an hour early but Pro said it was ok to go straight off. Quite hilly and some tricky holes. Course is adjacent to the Beamish Museum, nice scenic views. Clubhouse has picnic tables outside where you can watch golfers come in on the 18th. Worth a visit.

Nice course

First time playing, very nice course but far too busy and really slow play, found ourselves sat waiting for group in front which then led to 2 groups sat waiting behind us. Course is lovely though and some very tough holes.

Pace of play

2 hours 45 to play 9 holes of golf, the groups in front were shockingly slow and something needs to be done to prevent it, spoilt what was a good course with really nice greens in particular, we had to walk off after 9 holes as the group had commitments and was looking to be a 5.5 hour round. The course itself is in great nick and ruined what would have been a good day.

Quirky

Beamish is an incredibly fun course to play, from the 1st tee to the last, there isn't any holes similar to the last. Course was in excellent condition overall, greens especially quick. Only negative was pace of play, 4 and a half hours for a two ball.

Hard work

The only flat bits are the tee boxes. Up and down and never an even surface. Poor layout with unclear tee box positioning.

Beamish park

Excellent course with outstanding scenic views but testing hilly holes on a hot day can take it out of you but absolutely loved my first time at the course and will definitely visit again .
