Beamish Golf Course a must play!

Stayed in New Castle and had one free morning and decided on playing Beamish Golf Club based on the course layout and price. Pro shop lent me clubs (much appreciated) and the staff were so courteous and friendly.

Course was in excellent condition even with the 2 month drought wrecking havoc in the UK. Course layout was smart with lots of elevation changes which brought club selection a premium. Favorite hole was “Ravin” which is incredible and I was on in two and two putted for a smart par.

Cheers to Nick and all the other staff - lunch after the round was lovely too

Blind mans bluff

A well maintained and established parkland course with some interesting holes, nut unfortunately with too many blind holes for our taste.

The course works it’s way round and then up and over rolling hills resulting in some decent elevation changes and lots of blind shots. There are good markers though and fairways are generally generous. Even if you do stray off line the rough under the trees isn’t too severe so it’s difficult to get in lots of trouble. A couple of the par 4s are in excess of 400m and present a good challenge, but there are quite few shorter ones, some of which need a bit of toughening up. Stand out hole is the 15th which drops down to a narrow fairway between the trees.

All in all a nice enough course with just too many blind shots for us. If you’re ok with them you could easily add another star. Worth mentionining the helpful and friendly pro shop staff. Always nice to have a warm welcome.

Super parkland course

A four ball in the afternoon sunshine on a beautiful golf course. What more could you want?

Lot of fine weather had dried out the fairways but greens and tees had been well watered and were in excellent condition. Some tight fairways and difficult terrain made for a challenging round. I look forward to playing this course again in the not too distant future.

Course in good condition. Greens quick and true. Some really lovely and testing holes and drive challenges. Get it wrong and pin positions can be tough.

Great Course and friendly staff

I’ve played beamish 5 or 6 times now and the course never lets you down. The pro in the shop is very friendly to non members which is refreshing compared to other clubs and the course has clearly been well looked after.

I’ve marked the course conditions as good as there was a couple of areas makes out of bounds due to being waterlogged and 1 temp on but I appreciate there’s been a lot of rain. Only other comments is some of the tee boxes could be made clearer

Overall l, great course that I would recommend

All good

Beautiful sunny day in June, started with a bacon sarnie, The more courses I play these days, the harder I'm finding it to get one before 11am! Average machine type coffee.

The course was in excellent condition except for the bunkers which were not great.

Finished off the day with a pint, ham sarnie and chips, and a sit out on the patio to watch people putt out on the 18th.

A nice feel to the place, not sure how I would have felt had it been a rainy day though!

Beamish golf

This course had a lot of rain the day before all of the bunkers were shocking but think that was due to the rain the day before rest of the course was good the only other thing a would say was when we finished at 7 pm club house was closed.

2nd Visit. 1st Summer Season.

Course in beautiful condition. Especially considering the crazy amount of rain beforehand. Lovely course. Challenging walk!

The only other 2 groups on the course at the time were so incredibly slow vs me a single player. No on infront of them or behind me.

But that's not against the course.
