Great course, tricky but fun
Lovely well maintained course. Some greens are significantly higher or lower than your approach shot. Some blind shots and some holes where you need to think carefully about what shot you’re playing. Enjoyed the whole 18. Will definitely be back.
A double course
Originally many years ago this was a 9 hole course . It was extended downhill through mature woodland . So it’s like playing two different courses as you go around with two sets of challenges. Never boring.
Very good
Pace of play great, very few golfers on course, weather was very hot. Let's of run on fairways, greens in goes nic, thoroughly enjoyed it.
HILLS AND VALLIES
Steep hills !! Not a course for those who have problems with health and fitness, I honestly have done easier hikes in tge peak district than playing a round on this course. That said the course is good, views are good and its a fair challenge. Worth the money.
Great Location, layout and Views
First time playing, booked early T time on Sunday. Lovely layout, views and walk. Left a little disappointed by the quality of the greens considering the good weather we have had. Very inconsistent, some with disease, and poorly cut. Not worth £30 in that condition. Staff great & clubhouse.
Good well maintained course
Very enjoyable round of golf for our group but it was a good job that we weren't in a hurry as a couple of groups teed off very late on the 1st which backed the course up and added circa 40 minutes to our round. The course is currently in good condition and includes some cracking views from the upper tier and some interesting wildlife - it's no push over and it's very easy to mess your card up especially if you get a bit over confident 😉 Sadly the course is struggling for revenue at the moment due to a drop off in member & visitor numbers which is a real shame - from talking to other visiting players this appears to be due to the local authorities anti-car / anti-business efforts to deter people from traveling to the area by installing speed restriction measures on the the main roads from the North and South - some of the speed humps are so severe that you risk damaging your car if you try to take them at anything above walking pace which is totally ridiculous 🤔
Great course
First time playing this course and found it really good joined by 2 friends from Scotland and they were very happy with the bourse with a good mix of holes
Hidden gem
Lovely course, very well kept and friendly staff. Challenging holes and a tough walk but worth it
Well worth the drive
First time we have visited and will certainly return. Friendly guy in the pro shop with a couple of members gave us the lay of the land. Good layout, well maintained and the greens were very good. Although it doesn't look long on the card, it certainly played it. A few steep hills which would be a struggle for some with restricted mobility but we really enjoyed it.
Lovely winter wonderland
Course played perfectly on a very cold day, keep us warm with the challenge
Christmas Golf
Really pleasant round of golf with friends over the Christmas period. The course was in really good condition considering the time of year and there was very few restrictions. All of the staff were friendly and the facilities good. I would definitely recommend this course for casual golf or society games.
A hidden gem!
This was my second visit to Garesfield and a great reminder of what a fantastic course it is. The course is in a beautiful setting and the layout is superb. The condition for the time of year was excellent, the greens were lovely and true and the fairways still lush. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food was good too. I've played hundreds of courses over the years and I have to say, out of all of them, I think Garesfield is the best value for money course bar none. If you're golfing in the North East, make the trip, you won't be disappointed.
