Great course playing conditions not great
Think Garesfield is a brilliant and challenging course but the course conditions on the day let it down very very wet in places and majority of great were soft/ damp under feet and few holes had water in
Garesfield to the rescue
Played here due to my own course being closed for recent rain.
Although a little squishy in places, overall the course was decent and at least fully open.
I enjoy playing here as it has some different and challenging holes and some fantastic scenery.
For the time of year and the the amount of rain we had in the past week the course has held you pretty well.
Enjoyable round even if the golf played was not great.
Great testing course
I very hilly course so bring you walking boots
For the time of year the course was in great condition
I was asked if it was my first time by the local pro who was happy to show me where everything was & give a few tips
I would come back again
Great features
Good conditions for February, really enjoyed the challenge
Garesfield
Only 16 holes open understandable due to frost. Lovely lay out some great holes. Wil love returning in the summer. Shame about golf now emailing me to say I had £25 discount voucher, but when inserting code wouldn’t accept it.
Great links course
It was our first time playing this course and we really enjoyed it, unfortunately two holes were closed due to drainage issues I believe which is the only reason for the mark down in the overall score. Other than that very scenic with some testing holes. The staff were very friendly and food was fantastic! We recommend the hot beef sandwich.
Winter greens
15 greens on winter greens and 2 holes closed so the round was poor. Frosty conditions were blamed but there wasn’t any frost???
Played this course several times and it’s one of my favourites but unfortunately not this time.
Happy days
Lovely course, some up and downs but absolutely beautiful and well maintained
Buggy recommended
A challenging course with some tough sloping holes, a course that requires a buggy to help the not so fit golfers. Once you hit the 12th hole you’ll understand. The course itself was good with some tough holes and blind shots, in good condition even though we’d had a fair bit of rain but I’ve been before a few years ago and it was in better condition back then. Definitely worth what I’d payed for. My golf was rubbish that day (even though I eagled the 7th! My only good hole) so will be returning again to improve and enjoy my round.
Hidden Gem
Didn’t really know what to expect when booking this but the photos on the course website looked great so we gave it a go. We played in rainy conditions but the course was in good nick and, aside from a few deer and other assorted wildlife, was deserted. All in all a really good afternoon with some challenging holes and some spectacular countryside views thrown in. We’ll definitely play here again
Rained off
Ignore the star ratings, the following.
Started off dry, but by the time we got to the 2nd tee there was light rain.
Before we got to the 2nd green the rain was torrential.
Thought it would blow through, it didn't, after shelter under the umbrella's we walked back as the 2nd green flooded before us.
Needless to say the course was unplayable & closed.
Great Day out
Lovely course. Challenging terrain. Some straightforward holes but many challenging ones. Doesn't drain well and there was water on one green after a downpour even though we'd had weeks of dry weather. Stunning views and just a great environment in which to play.
Excellent ⭐️
First time to the course and it was absolutely brilliant. Weather was good and the course was in excellent condition and after the beer was cold.
We will definitely be back as we loved everything about it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very nice course, well maintained and challenging
Interesting, undulating golf course. Not easy to walk around but very rewarding when the right shot is hit (which is, of course, rare!). Thoroughly enjoyed my round.
Garesfield 31/07/2022
It was wet & windy for our round but the course was in excellent condition and is a credit to the hard work of the green keeping staff. The course features some significant changes in elevation, tricky blind tee shots and some difficult approaches to relatively small greens. The 12th through to the 16th are especially tough and can make or break your round - bogey can feel like a reasonable score and par feels like a significant achievement. Reason why I have only awarded 4 stars is due to the following: the course is open to the public and we encountered several local characters one of whom was showing an interest in our bags - he disappeared when challenged leaving a distinct smell of cannabis – also the car park and general facilities are starting to feel a bit dated in comparison to other clubs in the area. It is Garesfield’s 100th anniversary this year – perhaps the club could commit some significant investment to celebrate and leave a legacy for the next 100 years as previous generations have clearly done in the past.
