Quiet for a Saturday afternoon
Glorious August weather, sunny and no wind. Course was in good condition although even slightly off fairway longish grass makes finding balls tricky and the white leaves are starting to be on the ground again making finding balls tricky at times. That said, had a lovely afternoon’s golf. Course was very quiet and only one single person in front of me on first 8 holes, he seemed to disappear at that point. On back 9 had the place to myself and when I got back to car park I was the only car left, even although it was only 6 o’clock. Really enjoyed my round in quiet contemplation.
Nice twilight round
Played a last minute round with a friend and I would highly recommend to anyone. Nice drive down to the course, plenty of car parking spaces and the course was in decent nick
2 ball game
Played previously so knew it was a criss cross on some holes but it was a bit dangerous today. We all play iffy shots but there 3 occasions when we were nearly struck. No call on any of these. Staff were lovely as ever but think some of the grass sides and fairways could do with a cut. First time I've played there and lost a ball.
A very warm welcome on arrival with useful tips on course layout.
The course was in good condition in a relaxing and beautiful setting.
I thought it was fantastic.
I feel bad that some people leave negative reviews of experiences.
This course was absolutely beautiful and the staff were fantastic.
The loaded chips in the clubhouse was DELICIOUS also.
I can't wait to come back.
Everything was well groomed and quite beautiful. The 18th hole T-box seems to have taken a hammering but I don't know what they can do about that.
There is a lot of crossing over, but I can live with that. It was interesting and fun and friendly staff.
Good condition greens are quick fairways nice n shirt.
Great course
Course is looking in mint condition considering the weather we have had recently… I like all the slight little changes that have been made even down to the little detail of cutting paths in the grass for people to walk down.
Well done to the staff and I though £27 was a bit of a stretch before playing after past visits however it’s most probably fair but I still feel £22-£25 is a perfect price for the course (going off other courses and prices in the area)
Avoid
We arrived on time to find 2 other groups still waiting to tee off. Everyone was playing so slow that we were waiting on the tee box and fairways 5/10 minutes between shots. No one had the etiquette to allow us through. Walked off after 12 holes over 3 hours later to complain to the golf shop that was closed on a Saturday early afternoon. The course itself is in good condition but it’s so busy and has a lot of beginner golfers. If you usually take 4 hours or under to play a round I wouldn’t bother coming here. It will easily take over 5 hours as they overbook the course! Avoid! Really poorly run!!
Great course
I’ve played here loads and the course is unbelievable value for money.
Brilliant course conditions
Course played incredibly well despite all the rain. Greens were superb and it was honestly like playing summer golf. I will definitely be back in the summer to see if it could get any better. Really enjoyable experience and the only negative was being quite a compact course we were sometimes waiting for other groups to finish holes or teeing off directly over/towards others. Much more likely down to my ability and confidence as a high handicapper but would definitely think a low-medium handicap would enjoy this challenge more.
Winter golf
Course was in great condition, fast greens and the ground had firmed up from when I played 2 weeks ago. For £15 this is great value for money, I would say it’s a relatively easy course to play with most of the challenge coming from the right hand side if you suffer from the odd slice like myself (the river Tyne runs alongside).
The course was a pleasant surprise
I recommend any one to play here.
Good value for money the Winter Tee boxes were good to play from and the greens were in great condition. Also a picturesque area with a river one side and the trains the other side makes for a nice area to play.
