Rancho Solano Golf Course sits midway between San Francisco and Sacramento, a location that makes it easily accessible from all the cities in the Bay Area. The course sprawls across hilly terrain, providing the layout with elevated tees and dramatically undulating greens. It is a tough course to walk but it's possible. Sparkling lakes dot the hills, coming into play on a few holes. There are also numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The expansive greens offer some room for error but pin placement is still important. The first three holes on the back nine are some of Rancho Solano Golf Course's most challenging, especially the par-4 11th hole. Club selection is the key to this hole or you might lose your ball to the lake and even once you do seemingly reach safety, there are still bunkers backing the large green.

Great course, quality and value
Course is in great shape. Best quality rental clubs I’ve ever seen or played with.
Challenging but fair
Plays longer than the actual yardage. Caught it on a real windy day which made it hard to score. Fairways were excellent. Greens were receptive and rolled consistent. Typical California greens. Feel real soft under your feet but actually roll out pretty good.
Excellent course. Well maintained. Not over crowded.
Great course but....
Great course will fir sure come back but it took 3.5 hours to play the back 9 holes :(
A beautiful course to play
The fairways and greens are in excellent shape. Enjoyed a great round. Humongous greens, but you need to hit the ball on the low side. It's very challenging to play it for me.

I’m sure most reviews of this course will be the same. The course was in perfect condition. The staff was excellent (including the course marshall who stopped to chat briefly). Burger at the turn was delicious. A great day all the way around!

Worth playing
I like this course because it is well maintained for a public course. You cannot beat the deals on Golfnow.
A hidden gem
I knew nothing about this course, being located further from SF than I usually drive for golf.
But I had a GolfPass free round & it was a holiday so I knew traffic would be light, so gave it a try.
Very glad I did! The course is in great condition, the layout is challenging without being overly difficult.
The course has few blind carries or hidden hazards that mark Hiddenbrooke not far away. So while some local knowledge could only help scoring, it isn't REQUIRED to avoid losing multiple balls.
I will definitely return to Rancho Solano, I would suggest checking the forecast as it was 25° warmer than SF on July 4th. I think it might get close to 100° here on a warm day & it's not super shady.
Love the course tho!
Fun day of golf
The red tees provide a challenge, but are not impossible for a female who doesn't hit the ball very far. The greens are huge, and many have them are tiered, but they are in very good condition. The course is very pretty with its water features and mature trees.
