Rancho Solano Golf Course
About
Rancho Solano Golf Course sits midway between San Francisco and Sacramento, a location that makes it easily accessible from all the cities in the Bay Area. The course sprawls across hilly terrain, providing the layout with elevated tees and dramatically undulating greens. It is a tough course to walk but it's possible. Sparkling lakes dot the hills, coming into play on a few holes. There are also numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The expansive greens offer some room for error but pin placement is still important. The first three holes on the back nine are some of Rancho Solano Golf Course's most challenging, especially the par-4 11th hole. Club selection is the key to this hole or you might lose your ball to the lake and even once you do seemingly reach safety, there are still bunkers backing the large green.

Great round of golf
Rancho Solano is a great course to play to help you hit your approach shots. They have some of the biggest greens around, so it can help you feel good about your game, but then again it can leave you with a long and tough 2 putt...
Same Old Rancho Solano A Good One
Played here after recent deluge, course had some landslides and no where for water to go, but still course played as good as I have ever seen it. Par 3 are real good on this course, Par 4 are straight away basically, and Par 5 are reachable for longer hitters. Views are great, had a wonderful time. Had been over a decade since I played here, and it was fun to get back and see course again. Its a course with full mature trees that frame picturesque wide fairways. Large greens mean adding extra club, no more so than on hole 9. If you like the left side of the fairways to approach from there are enough out here to choose.
soggy course and slow play
The course was cart path only. Slow, slow, slow. I will not play this course in the winter again. I would not suggest it to others for play in the winter. Play it in the summer!
A Major Round
Honestly the course and practice facilitiy are in great shape. It was a winter day but the sun was shining bright. The tees and greens were in perfect shape as were the fairways despite the cold and recent rains. Challenging but fair. All in all my foursome ahead a great time. Service was fine too, and the cafe had it all!
I'm coming back ASAP!
Play it
Super fun course ! Only complaint was the on course Marshall he was clueless we had to wait on a tee box on the back nine for 5 -10 minutes while he visited with a couple and a 2 year old walking on the course he then gave them a ride held us up in every shot the beverage cart person might have been related the the clueless Marshall she has not been trained to stop when players are on the tee and keeps on driving toward you and doesn't stop play the course and hopefully management has a training meeting
Marshall
I am playing this course for about 10 years, that itself says it that how much I like the course. This Sunday we started at 1:16 and we're at 9th hole by 1:45 that started waiting behind people ahead of us. They were too slow that took us over 3 hours to get to the 18th hole and all this time there was no Marshall around to tell them speed up or let these people behind you go ahead you. And suddenly when we are going to 18th, Marshall came and asked us to hurry up, course is closed. That destroyed our 18th hole. Worse than that when we pulled to the clubhouse a gentleman stopped us from going to our cars and made us to carry our bag to parking lot. I walk most of the time, that doesn't bother me but the principal of the issue did hurt and after 10 year of playing there, all 4 of us decided to not to go back there.
Good Value
Very nice course layout. Only negative was the greens were very bumpy from aeration sand sand hadn't filled them in enough.
Great Course
I played here for the first time and I absolutely loved it. I play once every two weeks during the summer, and while it isn't the most challenging course, there weren't too many "easy" shots. The course layout was great, and each hole was unique. The greens were tough to read, but we're in great shape. Hit driver on a lot of holes. I'll be back soon!
Great condition, dreadful pace of play
The layout is great and the course conditions were terrific, especially the greens. But we waited on almost every hole. The round took 5+ hours.
Surprised!
I used to belong to the men's club 18 years ago. I was very impressed with how the course matured, trees, rough & fairways. I have to give the overall condition 5 stars as this was the best public facility I hove played in 5 years. My hats off to the management.
I strongly recommend this golf course
Very Beautiful Course!! I strongly recommend this golf course.
An exceptional muni course
Simply nothing negative I can find to say. All the notes are different and interesting. Challenging but good (fast) greens.
All layed out in a beautiful canyon. Exceptional value.
Great Golf Experience at Rancho Solano
Played this course for the first time on Labor Day. Great facilities with friendly/helpful staff. The course was in great shape and pace of play was excellent (4 hours on a holiday). Bring your putting skills to this course. There are huge greens here with significant slope. Pay attention to pin placements (reaching green does not ensure easy 2 putt if you're not on proper level of hole position). My foursome had a great day here and we look forward to returning (with more knowledge of the green complexes).
My home course
With wide fairways and big greens it's a good course for beginners yet challenging for the Advanced players
Very Nice Course
Haven't played this course in probably 20 years. Took my son out and glad I did. This course was in beautiful shape, no wonder it is so popular. The greens were in perfect shape, fairways were great and the only thing I can say that is somewhat negative is that some of the traps could use more sand. Played with another twosome that play the course quite a bit so they were giving me some advice on where to hit on some of the holes. If you have a chance to play this course do it, you won't be disappointed. I had a great round thanks to the people I played with.
course is in great shape
the green keepers at rancho solano has done a great job at the fairways and greens. the personal behind the desk is very professional, plus the restraunt staff is great. all around I rate this 5 star.
my favorite course
I love making the drive out to enjoy Rancho Solano. The course has many elevated tees which is perfect for this straight but short shooter. It gets warm in Fairfield, so if you get a decent whack, the ball rolls & rolls. Gorgeous views of the California golden hills. Hawks soar over head. Cows graze nearby on the back 9. Staff is friendly and engaged. Can't wait to go back!
Nice course slow play
Seems like they always overbook anytime we play rancho or paradise we're always stacked on top of each other! That's the only negative I have to say about this course!
very slow play
Painfully slow round and the ranger on the course didn't seem to care.
