About
Set across 300 acres of lush Carolina Lowcountry, Hilton Head National Golf Club has earned its reputation as one of the region’s premier public courses.
A unique collaboration between golf legends Gary Player and Bobby Weed, the course offers two distinct nines that complement each other beautifully. Weed designed the front nine with larger, more dramatically contoured greens to contrast and balance Player’s strategically crafted back nine.
Among the most memorable holes is the challenging par-4 sixth — bordered along its entire right side by the course’s largest lake and protected by deep pot bunkers near the green. The back nine features several standout holes, including the long and demanding 16th, which ranks as the No. 1 handicap hole for women and No. 5 for men. And finishing strong, the par-4 eighteenth tests precision with a deep marsh running the length of the narrow fairway.
Together, these elements create a course that’s scenic, strategic, and rewarding for players of all skill levels.

Best Public Course in Bluffton
Challenging and fair course. Greens are fast and well maintained. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. GPS technology was added bonus. Highly recommend.

Better than expected
Played Hilton Head National for the first time in at least 3 years and was blown away by how good it was. They have transitioned from 27 holes to 18 and still have a great range, F&B, etc. The drive from the Sea Pines Plantation was 30min. The course is just 8 minutes from a great area called Old Town Bluffton with new bars and restaurants.
I played from the black tips and while HHN is like most courses in the area (lots of importance on finding the fairway) they have knocked down a lot of weeds and shrubs off the fairways, making it much easier to find your ball. The greens were excellent! Firm and true with zero bad spots. Not one tee box was bake-out or suffering from decease.
The staff was very friendly and the beverage choices were great including Arnold Palmer Ice teas, both spiked and traditional.
Our group had not planned to play here but we've booked again for another visit this week.
The cart GPS emailed us our scorecards and the clapping audio for birdies was a fun moment.

Fun layout, great course, better value!
Played this course today and was impressed! Great layout, very quick greens, and a friendly staff. My only con was the greens were a bit sandy today but a well managed course with a staff that cares.

Wow...Very Impressed
Had the opportunity to play Hilton Head National and have nothing but praise for the people and course! We were a twosome and they paired us with a single who had also never played the course. Worked out just fine! Everything was in great shape, especially the fairways and greens. Enjoy the course and natural beauty around it!

Excellent course
Recently moved here and Hilton Head National was recommended to me by a local. Course was in excellent condition. If anyone is looking for a challenging but fair course this is it. Staff were very friendly. Will certainly be back for more golf here.

This my favorite course to play on yearly family vacation to HHI. This course is one of the best in course conditions with the exception of the courses in Sea Pines.

Terrific Course
This is a wonderful course. The starter was friendly and accommodating. Course was in great condition. Greens were great and very challenging.

Excellent course
Very good course, nice wide open fairways. Water hazards were kept to a reasonable level given that Hilton Head has a lot of water, and opportunities to add water challenges. Will definitely be back again next time I am in Hilton Head.
