Set across 300 acres of lush Carolina Lowcountry, Hilton Head National Golf Club has earned its reputation as one of the region’s premier public courses.

A unique collaboration between golf legends Gary Player and Bobby Weed, the course offers two distinct nines that complement each other beautifully. Weed designed the front nine with larger, more dramatically contoured greens to contrast and balance Player’s strategically crafted back nine.

Among the most memorable holes is the challenging par-4 sixth — bordered along its entire right side by the course’s largest lake and protected by deep pot bunkers near the green. The back nine features several standout holes, including the long and demanding 16th, which ranks as the No. 1 handicap hole for women and No. 5 for men. And finishing strong, the par-4 eighteenth tests precision with a deep marsh running the length of the narrow fairway.

Together, these elements create a course that’s scenic, strategic, and rewarding for players of all skill levels.

Good test of golf

As usual this course exceeds my expectations. We have been travelling to Hilton Head for a number of years and always make a point of playing HHN by far the best public track on the island. Highly recommended.

Course was in excellent shape, as usual. I try to play here every time on the island. Greens are great, fairways are great. If you can only play one course while at Hilton Head, this should be it. Also helps to catch a good deal on Golf Now. I highly recommend this course.

Great condition

Very well manicured course, playable for all handicaps off the right tees, nicely designed holes that keep your attention, pace of play was good, saw rangers and cart girl numerous times. Only picky point was that bar was closed when we finished at 5.20pm.

Country Club greens

Greens ran true and fast. Easy to short side yourself with raised greens. I rated this course a 5 but it could have been a 1 based on pace of play. Observant ranger noticed our group was behind a group of 12. After playing 1st hole there were still 8 people on 2nd tee. We were allowed to start on back and played at a leisurely pace of 4 hours.

Excellent course and a great value.

Hilton Head National is one of my favorite courses to play when visiting Hilton Head each year. The fairways are roomy and the rough is well maintained. The greens are fast and true. It's a great course to put up a good score and enjoy our day. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Put this course on your hit list, you'll be glad you did.

Very nice course

Always play this course when visiting the Island and have never been disappointed. Course is in great condition every time we have played it and price is reasonable. Greens roll smoothly and speed is moderate. Pace of play can be just a bit slow at times but we still played in under 4 hours as a twosome.

Hands down, one the nicest courses in the area. Would rate this course with the big name courses on Hilton Head (Harbour Town, Palmetto Dunes, etc.) Have played here on a few occasions and the course is ALWAYS in pristine condition.
